Friends of Target the Greyhound Now we start a new chapter in memory of Target. The first we heard about his situation was when he was discovered abandoned, skinny and full of fleas. Thank you.

Target is very special to the Greyhound Adoptions WA team and anyone who has met him will understand why we feel the way we do about this gentle giant. He is always first at the door to say hello and make sure he gets the pats cuddles and kisses first when you visit Toni. He has not had the best experiences in his life he first went into foster care at the age of two and went from foster care to b

eing adopted. Target was taken in by one of our foster carers who brought him back to good condition. He was then adopted to a young couple whose relationship broke down and he was again handed back to us for re-homing. To our horror he had deteriorated to only weighing 24kg when he weighed 39kgs before his adoption. No matter what disasters have befallen Target, he still comes back smiling and has the most beautiful gentle personality, he is now eight years old loves children and all other dogs but does draw the line at cats. He is not bothered by the behaviour (or misbehaviour) of all the hounds that come through Donnelly Greyhound family, always ready to lean and snuggle with whoever is nearest to him. One of nature’s Gentleman, Target accepts and is respected by all the foster dogs that have come through his home. His sister Clover can get ratty with any other greyhounds but never with Target. When he had to spend the five days at Waves, Clover insisted on sleeping on his bed. In her old peculiar way she missed him. Over the next couple of months we will be doing some fundraisers for Target are goal is to raise funds to help with the cost of the operation and ongoing bills totalling so far $6000 plus. A vile abuse of innocent animals

Free the Hounds received a Freedom of Information report by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment in regards to Australian Racing Greyhound, Turbo Thomas. The information contained in this report details Turbo Thomas was exported to China as a “pet”, however he is currently listed as breeding in China.

Turbo Thomas’ last race was in Bendigo in October 2020. He was owned by Damien Senn and trainer Vince Tullio, the same people who recently exported Australian greyhound stud dog, Canya Cruise, to China. The Australian greyhound industry continue to demonstrate they do not ‘love their dogs’ and they only care about the profits they make off of them. When an Australian greyhound is exported, the Australian greyhound industry loses accountability for the life and welfare of that greyhound. The only way to prevent the suffering of greyhounds is to end greyhound racing and ban exports of all greyhounds.
