📣Sponsor Savannah! 📣

Savannah is one of The Horse Project’s sanctuary horses and is available to sponsor! Savannah is a 19 year old off-the-track thoroughbred and came to THP through a county rescue. She was chained to a stake in someone’s yard with no food and eventually ate everything within the small radius she was given. Savannah was so starved that any other horse would’ve been euthanized but the rescuers still saw the fight Savannah had and decided to give her a chance at life again! Due to being starved, Savannah had continued to have metabolic and health issues that we’ve been working to counteract and work through

THP continues to work with Savannah through her PTSD and obvious distrust of humans. We’ve fixed her diet and she is finally working back up to a healthy weight and Savannah has been such a happy horse since. Once Savannah does let you in, her personality starts to show and she can be the sweetest horse!🐴🌴💞☀️❤️

In the midst of becoming our own non-profit, The Horse Project rescued another horse! Meet Anjo! 🐴🍃🌴☀️

Anjo is 19-years-old and came to us through a financial abandonment and has been mainly out to pasture his entire life with minimal handling. Our first steps are figuring out what he knows and getting him comfortable to a new environment. After he settled in, his personality has started to come out and he’s such a sweet and curious horse! ❤️

Initially, we thought he was physically fine, but Anjo ended up getting Cushing’s confirmed that he will now have to be on medicine for the rest of his life. He also has a Habronema outbreak on his lip that we are treating and a lump on his foot that has since opened up. We had the vet take x-rays and biopsy the lump, and it’s not malignant (yay!) and the next steps are working on getting the wound to close and keep the flies off it

We would greatly appreciate in any support with Anjo’s medical bills, any amount is very much appreciated!

We are so excited to announce that after 10 years, The Horse Project is now its own entity! 🎉🎉

The Horse Project is now a California nonprofit corporation operating through a fiscal sponsorship with Players Philanthropy Fund, Inc., a Texas nonprofit corporation recognized by IRS as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal Tax ID: 27-6601178,ppf.org/pp). All donations to the Horse Project are tax deductible

Also, a big thank you to Saffyre Sanctuary for working with us previously, we wouldn’t have been able to get to where we are without their support. The Horse Project is already looking forward to the next 10 years by expanding our Better with Horses equine-therapy program that was recently completed by Blind Fitness SB , more rescues and adoptions and more!

Hokus is off to his new home! On a weekly basis for 3 months I gave him Equine Hanna Somatics sessions. We love each other,!- and there is nothing like a horse feeling safe enough to lay down next to you! I am so happy for him and his new lucky family! Michele Grace Morrow Animal Communication

"Michele worked her Somatic magic with our rescued 6 year old small Arab gelding, Diego. He was toed out in the hind in a ballerina first position so severe he waddled side to side, and had trouble balancing and moving forward. Clearly Diego was having physical problems and not enjoying being ridden at all. After several months and regular sessions with Michele that's history. Diego’s a much happier horse and so are we. His toes point forward, he has a lovely, light Arab trot and is glad to get in the arena and on the trail. Michele is always communicating with him, and we see a more playful, braver and engaged young horse. Thanks Michele"- Diego, and The Horse Project Santa Barbara

Our 2024 Kid’s Horse Camp is now available for registration in July! The first camp is July 8 through July 12 and the second camp is July 15 through July 19. Both are from 9am - 3pm each day

We invite kids from 8 to 16 to join us, no experience necessary! They will learn the different aspects of horse care, handling and barn etiquette. Throughout the week with hands-on activities, the kids will learn about grooming, exercising the horses, maintaining their homes, their feeding schedule and more! Campers will also learn about massage and meditation to help relax the horse and their muscles as well as communication skills through body language with each horse

Everyone will learn something new whether this is your first time around horses or you’re around them all the time! We can’t wait to see you there!

Yesterday we held a Mindful Meditation with the SB Newcomers and it was a great time! Everyone including the horses spent the morning relaxing and enjoying the sunshine 🐴🧘‍♀️🌻🌴☀️🕶️✌🏼🕊️

The Horse Project and the horses loves to host events like this and informing the community on what we do and how we help these horses.
