I have so many things to post - but every day I feel like I am being pulled in a 1000 different directions but I wanted to share our new intake that was the emergency Friday that I had mentioned.
I tell you those eyes tell a story of a broken spirit - a pup at only 9 months old - a handsome Cane Corso pup named Goliath - we changed his name as he deserves a fresh start
Goliath was surrendered to the rescue as the owner was going to euthanize him - previous owner stated he was having seizures (we have not seen that yet) but Goliath is 20 pounds underweight - he was starving - he is loaded with intestinal worms and has never had vaccines. He also had an injury to his left hind leg back in July that was never treated - an injury that is causing him pain and discomfort (he has been started on medication to keep him comfortable) We consulted with an orthopedic specialist today and there is no fixing this leg - the damage is done and the best option is to amputate the leg - we always go with fixing it first but when that won't work and the dog is in pain we amputate the leg and that is basically our only option - had it been surgically corrected when it happened - Goliath would not be in this situation. He stayed in the hospital over the weekend - he got fluids, meals that he was so ready for, he has been started on some medications and now we need to get him stronger so he can actually have the surgery.
He also had some fluid in his chest that we are going to recheck with x-rays again the middle of the week - he seems to be responding to medications and is getting a lot of love at the hospital .
You are going to see a couple of fundraisers this week as I have 2 other dogs to post about and we have several other community projects to post about - I just have to find 3 minutes where I can actually sit down and do it
So please give a big welcome to Goliath - sweet boy we got you from here - no worries ever again
