So the DNA is in on our baby conures and it turns out we have three male turquoise green cheeks and one female green cheek currently available for adoption.
They are just weaning off on the last bit of formula now so we are starting to book appointments now for viewing.
Please private message me for any further information on the adoption process.

So thought I would put a video out of two of the beautiful boys that I’m looking to rehome….they are gorgeous birds and could do a lot better than just hanging around here with nothing much to do!!!
They can be adopted together or separately, but our preference would be together of course they are friends, but they’ve been with other birds and they’ve not been together for a long time so we would properly prepare them by separating them well in advance of the adoption being completed if need be.

JULY UPDATE

Budgies-English and Australian
Various ages and colouring.

Finches- We adopted out everything except a couple of zebras so we might have zebra babies down the road.

Lovebirds-we adopted out most of the flock that we had and have a very small compliment of them at the moment and not sure if we will continue to breed them.

Rosy Bourkes-turns out I only have one female that’s interested in laying, and I’ve only had a couple of birds this season that I have kept for myself to increase my flock. Once I have the compliment that I require, I will then offer any new babies out for adoption. It is my intention to continue to breed these birds so we will have them available possibly later or late this year.

Cockatiels-Everybody’s out exercising, although I have one female insisting on nesting so we may have more babies this summer.
I’ve added a few new tiels to my flock and we’re hoping will have more babies available this upcoming season.

Conures-we have one male turquoise available from our previous clutch ready to go with DNA certificate.
We also have four babies in our incubator that are 5+ weeks along and three of them are turquoise and one is a green cheek. These will also have DNA included.
We’re done for the season and everybody’s exercising and taking a break for the summer so these are the last birds will have until possibly the new year.

CAIQUES-displaying some behaviours now that they’re maturing and have been regurgitating and mouth feeding so I have them in a cage and I’m introducing them to a box in hopes that they will go to nest in the upcoming season. They are fully bonded and at the appropriate age so we are hopeful.

BIRDS for REHOMING

We are looking at downsizing some of our flock …. particularly some of our bigger birds that are no longer breeding or that we have never bred that we now hope to rehome.
So for anyone interested possibly in a rehoming scenario with a larger bird species we invite serious inquiries only…..for any further details you can PM me.
Thanks
Darlene

Happy summertime everyone hope you’re keeping yourself and your kids and your fids cool, as it is anticipated we should get higher than unusual temperatures this summer.
There are cost-effective ways to keep your birds cool without having to turn on an AC such as:
using a cool mist to spray at the hot points in the day
offering frozen fruit, such as frozen blueberries as a treat and offering them while they’re still frozen,
changing the water more than once a day and even adding some ice cubes to keep the temperature cool,
offer a little pond of water for them to wade/bathe in.
Airflow is really important so a great fan with a small block of ice in a bowl in front of the fan can also help cool a small area and remember to point the fan away from your bird not directly towards them.
Stay cool, my friends!!!

Also want to bring everyone up to speed on the babies that we have available right now.
We have a lovely selection of beautiful budgies….. I am weaning a female cinnamon Cockatiel and I have two more in my incubator a dark gray and a Lutino (lutino adopted)…. we also have more birds on eggs…..more Cockatiels soon!!
So the dark gray, and the cinnamon are still available .
I also am just on the tail end of weaning off four Conures and we have had more hatchlings just recently and another pair on some eggs so we will definitely have lots of Conures this season.
Two of the Conures have been adopted so there is still one beautiful turquoise male and a gorgeous very red yellow sided female!!!
Also have some English budgie babies and some Australian fancies really beautiful colouring!!!

Happy long weekend everyone hope it’s a good one. We sure deserve it after this long cool spring!!
I wanted to introduce a couple new members of our flock Coco and Kiwi, who are a bonded pair of caiques who we eventually hope to have some babies from and I also added a few extra pictures from some of the rest of the flock!!!

15/04/2024

Hi everyone, sorry for the tardiness and getting a post out to you this season.
2024 is our 10th year in operation and although we have lots of excitement and lots of plans around all that, somehow we’ve got gotten off to a slow start this year.
We have many birds right now that are transitioning out of our breeding flock due to their age… this is particularly true of our Cockatiel flock who were already well into adulthood when we started with them over 10 years ago. We’ve had a couple of seasons now with them not doing much and have mostly just left them out now to free fly and enjoy their lives. We have just added another five birds to this flock and although they’re a little bit young, they may decide to go later this season or early next season. I do have one female right now on eggs and hope to have a few baby birds soon but not many.
Our Conures are breeding and we currently have four babies in our incubator and although I’ve not posted them yet a number of people have seen them and are interested in adopting.
The pins are just coming through enough to see that there is a turquoise, green cheek and cinnamon turquoise….. sweet babies all seem very healthy and are feeding very well.
We have so many beautiful budgies this year…..please mention them to friends or anyone you may know who is interested in a budgie.
We are also discontinuing our lovebirds as we don’t get many inquiries, and our flock is older, the same as our Cockatiels. I started with lovebirds and Cockatiels around the same time so it’s time to give them all a well-deserved break . Still beautiful busy little birds that we’re hoping to rehome.. some are younger also in this flock.
Once we downsize on a lot of the smaller birds are will be getting some new birds in and we hope to add some new species to our flock later this season as well….. so stay tuned for further info around that.
Our boarding facilities are in full swing and we have added a few more cages to better accommodate everyone however, if you have tentative dates, you might want to book in early especially if it’s between June and August.
We hope these changes will go along way to ensuring our success this year and in coming years and we thank everyone for their patronage along the way.…… 10 years….wow…. Time flies also around here…..it represents a lot of work, joy, happiness, tears, grief, love and patience around all these birds but at the same time we’ve enjoyed every minute of it … we love what we do and thank God every day for the honour of having these birds in our lives.
Lots of photos to come, and we will be updating you on more regular basis now that we’ve gotten the tax season out of the way and a big cleanup accomplished.
Darlene..

What a beautiful Christmas day and the weather has been amazing …. although we paid the price to get this with the recent wind and the rain.
Hope everyone’s having a wonderful Christmas….. we certainly are and the birdies have all been extra well treated…. It’s a joy and it gives us great pleasure to do special things for them over the holidays…I must say though it felt like spring here this morning misting them all with the sun shining bright!!!
Feeling very blessed this Christmas and we Hope everyone has a safe and joyous, holiday season!!!!
Darlene, Chris, Evee and the flock!!! !

Hope everyone had a Happy and Safe Halloween and a wonderful November 1 snowy Day today. It was really beautiful coming down for sure … that first snow … there’s something special about it!!!
I have one pair of Conures that are currently mating, hoping we will have some babies from them soon if we do, they will be green cheek, Conures.
Our Cockatiels seem to be settling down now they’ve been chasing each other around for quite a while and we put a bunch of boxes up for them and they’re settling down into it now.
Lovebirds- we have set up two pairs for now hope to have some babies soon.
Bourkes seem more comfortable in a new cage/location in the aviary. They are displaying more breeding behaviours so we’re hopeful will see some babies.
We have lots of budgies rady to go and some lovebirds nesting.
We also have quite a few zebra finches, and some society finches available as well

We will be offering boarding services all season long again and December tends to get a bit busy so if anyone’s looking to book for December, we can book a date tentatively if you want to ensure a spot
Appointments available for wing and nail trims. I hear that next week is going to warm up again a little bit so certainly consider next week rather than this one for your maintenance appointment.
Thanks
Darlene

Hi, everyone are hoping to get some help in finding a little lutino Cockatiel that just went missing today (just before noon) in the area of Salmon River on the corner of Evergreen Drive and Elder Drive.
Very sweet and friendly bird that would answer to the name of “Sunshine”.
I’ll say thanks in advance for anyone who’s willing to share your post to get the word out there in the hopes of getting this little one back home.
Thanks everyone
Darlene

Just realized that I forgot to post for September and the month is over half gone already.
Hope this message finds everyone dry and intact after hurricane Lee.
It’s been a quiet September actually not much going on as we usually experience a lull in September with the kids going back to school.
We take this quiet time to exercise the birds and clean and get ready for a new season so everybody’s out exercising and lots of cleaning going on.
July was so hot….We chose to shut down breeding early this summer. It’s the first break I took over the summer in 10 years…. it usually doesn’t happen until September and I’ve been on break since mid July from breeding.
The Cockatiels are all out chasing each other around and showing interest in the nest boxes …. so we’re starting to pick up again where we left off.
Conures will be starting up again in the late fall with more babies available probably by the new year.
That being said it has been an odd year and things could be happening much quicker than I’ve just stated as we’ve ALL been having a break now since mid July sooooo…..I will keep everyone updated!!!!
Remember with fall fast approaching to consider getting your birds wings and nails trimmed before it gets too cold.
We seem to get lots of nice days from October through December so there’s no real rush just a friendly reminder. We’re flexible as well, so we would rather reschedule then have you to bring your bird out on a particularly cold or windy day.
Also, remember, the boarding room is available all year round so if you have travel plans, feel free to book in even tentatively once you have your dates.
We are going to keep a close eye on this new Covid strain as well, and we really hope we don’t have to go back to masking again, but I have many birds counting on me to be well so I have to be really careful with that …. as we all do for our families and loved ones.
That being said, we manage our adoptions very nicely by handling most of the process online through photos and videos and E transfers for any holding deposits.
It keeps a lot of unnecessary foot traffic out of the aviary and lessens my risk for any illness.
As long as you follow this page, it doesn’t matter whether you live local or not everyone gets the same chance for adoption of any of these babies.
Please note, we cannot hold babies without a holding deposit of 30% of the adoption fee. We don’t take holding deposits until we actually have a healthy baby to offer you and it’s important to note that all holding deposits are non-refundable as they are meant to secure an adoption…..they are however transferrable between birds and can be held in trust should something come up that gets in the way of a current adoption.
We do still have a couple of lovebirds, some budgies and finches available as we always have some on hand ready to go.
Enjoy your fall…..will keep everyone updated on anything else happening in the aviary…… If you have any questions at all, please feel free to send them through this messenger and I will respond to them as quickly as I can. It’s the easiest and fastest way to get a hold of me.

So great news wanted to share with everyone that little Rafael has made it back home and he’s with his mommy now. He apparently had flown all the way across the lake to another neighbours house and he was out all night long even with all the crows and the other birds he made it through the night. She said the next morning they knew where he was based on all the local birds and the activity in one particular area so they were able to find him that way thank you to everyone who shared the post and offered comments and words of hope we appreciate you very much. Thank you all.

AUGUST UPDATE
Hi everyone, so that was quite a month; July is coming in as the hottest month ever on record!! I’ve had more appointment cancels due to weather over the last month or so then I would normally get all winter long.
That being said, we still have some babies here that people have expressed interest in but with no holding deposits on file, I am reposting on a couple of these birds, as it does appear now they’ve lost out on an opportunity for a forever home due to circumstances out of everyone’s control.

Currently Available:

Conures:
Two turquoise female babies-1 yellow sided and one pineapple (diluted colours).
1-green cheek female (may be spoken, for I will be able to confirm soon)

Cockatiels:
1-cinnamon female
1-lutino -white winged female

Lovebirds:
3-peach males

Budgies:
Various colouring available, limited boys, and we have both English and Australian fancies .

Finches:
Society and zebra available .

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer regardless of the weather extremes.
I saw a video today where someone had a wedding in a church filled with at least a foot of water and it showed the bride walking down the aisle, with her dress, floating!!! Persevering and moving forward yep….inspiring!!!
I will say these turbulent times are a lot brighter with the love of our family and of all our pets (especially those little feathered ones)!!!
Sending positive vibes and love and light to all our aviary friends and families!!! Hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer. It seems a little more seasonable today. Hope it stays that way.

08/06/2023

Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that my Facebook account is not functioning properly.
I’m having serious issues with meta-not correcting problems with my account over the last year since I was hacked and with multiple requests in to them with no response, my account is becoming less and less functional.
If for any reason you’re not able to get a hold of me through this messenger, I would ask you to send a telephone text message to 902–209–0300….or Email: [email protected].
I also have a personal page under my name, Darlene Anderson, and please feel free to message me there If this page doesn’t seem to be getting you the response you would expect.
Sorry for any inconvenience and yes, even the appointments are coming up with the wrong times. There’s a four hour difference on the front of the appointment versus when you open the appointment so the whole thing is messed up I may have to go to a different platform if it doesn’t get corrected.
Please bear with me and continue to try to use this so I can see how the functionality is and again if you’re not getting a response try me through telephone text messenger (not voice) and/or my personal page.

MAY UPDATE
Let me be one of the first to say happy Mother’s Day to all the new Bird parronts out there and hope everyone gets a chance over Mother’s Day to spend lots of time with their kids and their new feathered babies!!
I also want to thank everyone who has adopted one of our baby birds. We appreciate you so much and consider you now part of our flock.
SOooo!!
We still have four green cheek males that have not been spoken for yet and one little female Cockatiel who I know there’s been a few different people interested in her. I thought I’d let y’all know she is still available.
We also have two very sweet, natured little male lovebirds that I’m currently working with, and a variety of budgies various colours and various ages all young birds, under six months old for the most part.
We do have more Cockatiel babies coming. We have two hatched, and they’re still too young to determine the colouring.
We do also expect more Conure eggs to hatch soon.
Happy spring everyone. I think it’s safe to say it’s finally here. Lol.

APRIL UPDATE
We are just nearing the end of the weaning for our Conure babies, and they are quite a handful at this stage as they are fledgelings at this point.
It’s quite a wonderful, fun and exciting time for them, learning to fly and a busy stressful time for me trying to keep up with them!

Our last clutch of cockatiels we had lots of people wanting little boys and sorry to say the DNA came up as females.
Very sweet little birds and we do still have one little girl left a little cinnamon looking for her forever home for anyone interested!!
We also have little lovebirds, English and Australian budgies, and zebra/society finches.
We manage most of the adoption process online these days through photos and videos and once we have a bird for you to consider, we then would book an appointment for you to come and view.
We show our birds by appointment from Tuesdays through Saturdays from 1 PM to 5 PM each day!!
We are also currently booking appointments for spring wing and nail trims and we have our boarding room all cleaned up and ready to go for the new season.
