If a dog were your teacher, these are some of the lessons you might learn...

1. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
2. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
3. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

Why we work with our scholars in the real world.🌍🐶

At Rhodes Collar we believe that socialization and training are essential for our day school scholars to thrive in a bustling world. Here are a few key reasons why we prioritize taking our dogs out:

1️⃣ Reactivity Management: Exposing our dogs to different environments helps them learn to manage their reactions to various stimuli. We focus on helping them feel calm and confident in new situations.

2️⃣ Leash Skills: Training on-leash skills is crucial for enjoyable walks. We teach our dogs to walk nicely by our side, making outings safer and more pleasant for both them and their families!

3️⃣ Appropriate Greetings: Meeting new people and dogs can be overwhelming. We work on teaching our pups how to greet others appropriately, ensuring that every interaction is positive and respectful.
Through training and socialization, we strive to develop well-rounded family companions who can explore the world joyfully and safely.

Ever wondered how routine impacts your dog’s behavior and temperament?

1. Routines offer structure and predictability, making dogs feel secure and less anxious.
2. They reinforce positive behaviors and establish good habits.
3. A consistent schedule enhances socialization, helping dogs adapt better.
4. Regular feeding, walking, and training can lead to improved obedience and a calmer demeanor. 🐾✨

🎉 REUNITED 🎉

Rio was safely rescued after spending eight days near the Mystic River and Mystic Seaport. She had taken a liking to the geese in the area and seemed content to stay. However, after more than a week, she finally decided to give up. Tempted by the rotisserie chicken in the trap, she walked in willingly. Thanks to the dedication of Connecticut Dog Gone Recovery, Rio was brought to safety. Special thanks go to Bill, Deb, Jill, Kim and Melissa for their incredible efforts. Stonington Animal Control also played a crucial role in helping with her rescue. Everyone is relieved that Rio is now safe and sound. A very special thank you to Mystic Seaport security!! Welcome home Rio!

*Missing in Mystic*
This sly little miss managed to slip out of a door and is now missing. She is new to the area and maybe very afraid. Please do not chase her. We need her to stay in the area. Please call either of the numbers on theflyer immediately with all sightings

At Rhodes Collar, our puppy classes are crucial for teaching your puppy proper social skills. During the critical socialization phase (up to 4 months), positive interactions with dogs, people, and environments are essential. If your dog is older, don’t worry—it’s never too late to socialize! Our classes ensure quality experiences in a supportive setting.

In Puppy Kindergarten (for dogs 3-6 months who have had their first vaccinations), we’ll cover essential skills like lures, place, sit, down, stay, puppy pushups, stand, and loose leash walking, along with friendly greetings. Each class is flexible, allowing you to progress at your own pace.

Let us help you get started! 🐶
