Well, I have officially made the decision to stop teaching and make Mikell Farm a private facility. Most of you know, I have scaled back considerably after my health issues last year. I have decided that getting back in the show ring and training my own horses is what the future holds! Super excited with the horses I have in my lineup!

On the search for another western pleasure lesson horse. Will have the best life, about 4 lessons per week and the occasional show. Needs to be steady at the lope. Can deal with some maintenance, or a tuneup. Hoping to find a semi retired Show Horse under 15. My learning to lope lesson horse is having some neurological issues so I am trying to find his replacement.

We are surviving the winter and the lesson horses are enjoying their break! We are hoping to start the Spring Lessons back up in early March if mother nature cooperates! We already have a waiting list! We will have 20 spots available this year. Private lessons $55

April 1, 2020 COVID-19 Update - Currently per Pennsylvania State requirements we are closed to the public. This includes no lessons, training or sales of horses. We hope to be back up and running as soon as this mess is over.

In these very uncertain times we, the owners at Mikell Farm, want to do our part to help people within our horse family and community.

During this time of financial uncertainty for many and the realization that horses are an expensive luxury for most of us, we will be offering to purchase horses if you find yourself unable to feed them or pay boarding costs.

We will try to offer you at least equal to or slightly more financial compensation than what you would earn at a livestock auction. Our mission is for a seller to not feel desperate and to have a humane outlet for their horse that is in this situation due to no fault of their own. In addition to the purchase of your animal we will give you a contract in writing stating that we promise to never sell your horse at any auction or sale barn.

If you cannot afford to feed or care for your horse properly, know that you always have an option to contact us privately knowing that we will do what we can to help you/the horse without any judgment. All transactions will be kept private and secure.

Must be located in PA, MD, NJ, or within about 3 hours of York, PA.

Please be aware! There are many dishonest horse dealers in our area that will be scooping up these horses and selling them as soon as the auctions are back up and running.

We absolutely will NOT do this and are willing to put it into writing for you.

11 yo Smokey Buckskin Gelding 15.1+h

Gorgeous colored trail horse that could easily do the ranch horse shows or be that super cute hunter. Perfect size at 15.1+ and the body to go with it. One hand neck rein, nice lope and jog and big huntery trot. Miles on the trail! He has had some reining training in the past and is very well broke. He will mosey around if that is what you want, but will give you much more if asked.

This guy has no issues and is very sweet. Ties, loads and hauls great. Great for a bath. Turns out with mares and gelding with no issues. $4000
