I have found it possible to succeed by standing on my own two feet.
I have founds it possible to use my own accomplishments and not those of others to succeed. I have worked for YEARS to develop and perfect the Harlequin Pinscher Breed.
I have sadly found other breeders prefer to use my Kennel name, bloodlines, Breed Designation and accomplishments to sale their inferior, low quality and often times crossbred Pups.
Do your homework and pay attention to those who use others accomplishments instead of putting in the work themselves.
My pet peeves are:
obvious Crossbred dogs/pups being presented as Harlequin Pinschers.
A breeder representing a Harlequin Pinscher as Rare or a Rare color just upsets me as the breed is not rare nor are there any rare Colors or Patterns in the Harlequin Pinscher. Run-N-Ridge has produced every color, pattern and combination that is genetically possible in the breed.
Harlequin Pinschers being presented as Purebred Harlequin Pinschers but registered with inferior Registries. Some Registries don't care if what they register is Purebred or not. We are aware of breeders who have crossbred dogs calling them Harlequin Pinschers. I would never buy a Harlie that isn't HPA registered just as I don't buy Min Pins that aren't AKC registered.
Never Ever take a breeders word for it being Purebred if they can't produce HPA papers linking their stock to the Run-N-Ridge bloodline. Most breeders can't legitimately link because there are hundreds of breeders of Mutts out there trying to benefit from the popularity of the Harlie breed by selling crossbred Mutts as Harlies.

I'm a little upset today as I was going through some paperwork - basically cleaning out my files and came across another breeder's dog's info. This led me to doing some more research and I'm just disgusted with their Breeding Ethics. I realized they are breeding their dogs almost EVERY cycle and for YEARS on end.
At what point do they feel these dogs have contributed enough money to their coffers? A 5 year old dog that has already had 7 litters and probably produced "in excess" of $28,000.00 for the breeder yet is likely to go for many more years being bred. Multiple that times 15 plus female dogs and you will fully understand WHY they breed. (*$8000.00 a year x 15 =$120,000.00 ANNUAL income). This makes you fully understand how some can afford new vehicles and a new house without actually having an outside JOB.
Breeders like this just keep adding MORE dogs to their breeding programs, without retiring others, as they are 'addicted' to the money they make from them.
I don't care if they have a nice in-home set-up (*or a nasty one as is usually the case from my observation) or a million-dollar Kennel set-up: Over-breeding is simply done to line their Pockets with Cash.
An Ethical Breeder breeds to hopefully produce a better specimen of the breed to keep to use going forward. If a dog has not produced better than themselves by the THIRD (*3) litter they most likely aren't going to therefore as a "keeper" of the breed they should be removed from a breeding program. If they DID produce a better pup then you have what should of been your objective therefore making it possible for you to retire the Dam.
Then we come to the ones "shouting to the roof tops that they TEST" yet what good does it do to TEST if you're still going to keep using the dog with "undesirable traits" for breeding OVER & OVER. An Ethical breeder would breed the dog, TEST the Litter, and keep back a CLEAR pup to go forward with in their breeding program.

Breeders need to Do better than what I am currently seeing being done for the sake of the breed!

I want to make it very clear that I don't just sit around all day waiting on a call to SALE a puppy. I "WORK" and usually my work doesn't involve answering a phone. I do NOT carry my phone with me. It is My choice to not to be attached to a phone and I'm quite happy with my choice.
I'm not sitting in the house all day long waiting on request for pics and Videos. I "WORK" all day long and selling a puppy is not part of my job or livelihood.
I'm quite happy with my choice of working all day every day.
I raise Min-Pins and HPA Harlies because I LOVE both breeds. They are my HOBBY and not my "JOB".
I am quite happy with my choice of a "HOBBY".
If your looking for someone who sits around waiting to sell a pup to pay their bill then I'm NOT the person your looking for. If your looking for someone who has MEGA adult dogs and multiple litters in their home so they can MAKE MONEY then I'm NOT the person for you.
I'm the one who spent YEARS developing the Harlequin Pinscher for my own purpose and the desire to have a colorful dog that resembles the Min-Pin.
It's NOT CHEAP nor financially advisable to develop a breed as to do it right cost money - a lot of money!
Many ride on my coat tails! Many are Fake as their pups are not TRUE Purebred Harlequin Pinschers. Many raise solely for the money they can make from them. If your looking for that type person then they are out there and are a dime a dozen. They are the ones sitting awaiting your becon call.
I'm the one working for a living and have chosen to raise my dogs responsibly out of "love" and not for what they can buy me.
Buy Responsibly! Don't support Fake and Greedy Breeders.
