Horrendous story! This did not have to happen! Inadequate staff to dog ratios and inadequately trained staff make doggy day care a risky choice in many establishments. Also, assessing the environment for possible hazards is an essential step in risk management which should be executed prior to allowing any dogs on premises. Inexcusable!

Know what is prudent so you can be the best advocate for your pet!

You need to be your pet's advocate. Here is an example of BAD medicine. This animal was admitted to the hospital on October 16th for vomiting and diarrhea, needing IV fluids and medication. The NEXT DAY the pet was vaccinated for Rabies, Influenza, Distemper, Hepatitis, 4 strains of Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, Coronavirus, and Bordetella. First, I would never give all those vaccines at one time. Second, I would never give them to a sick dog! Do not allow this to happen to your pet. Tell your veterinarian you will not allow your pet to be vaccinated while ill, while having a surgical or dental procedure, or to be given a dozen vaccines all at the same time.
