New Life for Paws Foundation We are a nonprofit animal rescue that saves stray, neglected, and abandoned Aruban dogs. We are a proud member of the Caribbean Rescue Coalition.

Created from the passion and determination of our founding member Natalya Yermak, New Life for Paws’ mission is to rescue as many stray, neglected, and abandoned Aruban dogs as possible while also advocating for spay/neuter programs to reduce the overwhelming amount of street dogs on the island. We provide shelter, food, and veterinary treatment for each of the rescues save. Everything our small b

Nissa is fostered on Long Island NY but can be moved. Born July 2024. Below is what her foster mom has to say about her. Kaia is the fosters cunucu

Nissa may be tiny (just 13 pounds!) but she has a big personality and even a bigger appetite and zest for life. She loves being the center of attention and gets jelly of you giving another dog more attention. She loves her toys but the squeakers scare her 😂 She loves any and all bones but especially ones bigger than her. She does not have food aggression but for like the first few days she did bark when Kaia ate her food. Nissa will tattle tell real fast by barking if Kaia steals her cookie. Nissa internal food clock is on point and she lives for her meals. She is about 90% p*e pad trained. She won’t use the same pads as Kaia. She likes one for p*e and one for 💩. She is the happiest lil girl. Her tail is always wagging and she bounces about and walks on her back legs when she is super happy. She loves when mommy and daddy come home. She is okay alone for a few hours because she has Kaia. She loves playing with Kaia and chewing on her ears and paws. Her favorite thing to do is to come at Kaia and fake growl at her because she wants to play tag with her or catch me if you can. She is cautious and her tiny teeth out when she meets a new dog cuz she knows she is tiny and has to protect herself. As soon as she knows she’s safe she’s like okay let’s play. She hates being picked up if she is in the middle of something but loves it if ya hold her outwards so she can see what’s going on. She knows her name, no and come. I even open the door and she shivers. She has a sweater she wears out but when she comes home she will tell you to take it off. Nissa loves to snuggle and if ya are on the couch or bed, Nissa will either be sleeping on you or her butt touching you. She loves playtime. She loves nose boops. She won’t lick your face but loves sniffing it. Does give hand kisses. She isn’t a nipper but if she laying down and she sees a button or your hand, she will test her luck and nibble. She is non stop entertainment and the funnest lil girl to be around.she does leash walk. Buuuuttt if we open the front door she is a bolter so we pick her up. She lives for belly rubs. She lives for any and all attention that makes her the center of attention.

Love this bio for Nola written by her amazing foster mom ❤️

Meet our new foster Nola, a 3yo 13lb Shih Tzu mix. Don’t let her cute looks fool you. She WILL protect your house from strangers and she WILL be the reason other dogs need a therapist (just ask the pitbull 4x her size who let her stay at his place for one night. Poor boy had to hide from her 🙈).

Having said that… is anyone looking for a tiny cuddly pup who adores humans, but who isn’t really a “dog person”? If so, Nola is your girl! Although she gets along with her foster 🐶 brother, it takes her a while to get used to new dogs (versus about 15 mins to get used to new humans). She’d do best as an only pet (she wants the human attention and snacks all to herself).

Roxy and Rickys personalities are shining through 🥰

They have settled in nicely this past week with our busy big family. They are doing great and are little mushes & They are always snuggling up to one of us on the couch. Doing great in their crate at night (10pm-6am). It's been freezing in NY so just quick runs in the yard. Hoping for more adventures when the weather gets a little nicer.

🆘 Luna our sweet German Shepard
is being moved North from NY this weekend! We have a few potential Fosters but not for this week coming up! So we either need someone for about a week or a long term foster ORRR AN ADOPTER!! This girl has been through a lot in her young life! She started out being crated for most of the days and nights together with her brother in the same crate. She never had a toy or bed or anything just in a crate in a cold garage. Sooo now that she has been saved I want THE BEST NEW LIFE FOR HER! She needs love attention and patience she is very loving very goofy jumps up a lot for attention she needs someone to teach her how to be a dog basically she has no skills! She is a sweet girl and I want the best new life for her!!

Piper is an absolute love bug!
She plays hard & naps harder.
Piper loves attention but she's also independent.
You can walk around without her taped to your hip.
She can self entertain too! Piper does have a good amount of energy. So she'll need someone to match her energy or another furry sibling.
Piper is still a little nervous around new people, but we're working on that.

Bella is still waiting to find her forever Valentine ❤️ Shes approx 8 months old and 20 pounds

Bella is a sweet, rambunctious pup.
Very energetic, will need an active home. Loves other dogs of all ages and sizes. She's super food motivated. Knows how to sit, crate trained and mastering potty training. Loves to snuggle humans and other pups 🐶
She loves going on hikes and in the car just kind of chills 🚙 She'd be fine going places. She LOVES other dogs. So a home with other dogs or a home committed to sending her to daycare/taking her on playdates etc would be ideal. She doesn't NEED a fenced-in yard as long as parents are committed to socializing/exercising her
Unknown with Cats 🐈 or kids but foster's opinion is older, dog savvy children would likely be ok. But maybe not babies/toddlers, but I think kids 6 and up maybe? She does get the zoomies here and there and will jump on you. Just needs training like every puppy. Nothing out of the ordinary
She loves naps 💤 and enjoys her crate so she's fine with taking breaks after she's gotten exercised. Training will be key to help Bella be the best dog she can be!

Corrine is still waiting 😭 below is from her foster family. We know it’s long, but if you read it we hope you will see what a great puppy she is. She also has a reduced adoption fee of $400 🎉 Shes been waiting since October for the good new that she has a family that wants to love her forever 🥰

Corrine had an exciting week this week! She had a vet appointment and now weighs 38 pounds! She received her distemper and bordetella vaccines and handled them like a champ!
She also started at a doggy daycare and had a great time there . Her new best friend there is a golden retriever named Angel who showed her the ropes at Happy Tales Doggy Daycare (PS - her daycare is very supportive of rescues!!😊)
She needs more training on a leash. She LOVES going for long walks and with her enthusiasm she has a tendency to go at a fast pace, but she walks straight, no zig zagging and not a lot of stopping to sniff.
She is up to date on heartworm and flea & tick preventatives.
She also has had her first nail clipping. It took one of us holding her and giving her treats while the other one clipped, but it wasn’t stressful, she tolerated it, and we got all the nails done.
She has been on car rides to get her out of the house and she was fine on them. She is a fan of the Starbucks Pup Cups. She definitely likes it better when someone is sitting by her side in the car. She lets us pick her up, carry her, put her on our laps and she loves it.
We have had to leave her in the crate a couple times and she is now doing well and tolerating it. She does not tolerate quite as well if she knows you’re home though. She loves to sleep in bed and cuddle on the couch. She stayed in her crate for 3.5 hours on New Year’s Eve while her fosters enjoyed some time out with no issues.
She’s very comfortable in the backyard and is always on chipmunk and squirrel patrol. She definitely has a little prey drive.
Aside from some hesitation with strangers, she is a wonderful pup!! She is such a great puppy - very gentle, sweet and fun. No signs of guarding or aggression, doing great with potty training and being respectful in the house, loves to cuddle and give lots of affection to her people. She absolutely loves other dogs and cannot get enough of having others to play with. It seems that she needs another dog to feel comfortable.

😍 More info: She is a young and playful shih-tzu mix who doesn't seem to mind the cold at all. She's not overly energetic and is happy with running in the yard for a few minutes in the morning, afternoon and evening. Mostly just sleeps or chews her bones or free-roams the house when she is indoors. Barks at people she doesn't know if they come into the house. Will probably be a good alarm system for whoever adopts her. Doesn't bark unless there's "danger" (like new humans or dogs on her territory). Doesn't bark when on walks. Is overall a pretty chill and quiet dog. Perfect for someone who doesn't want to deal with puppy energy, but still wants a younger dog. Doesn't require excessive walks, but never says no to an outdoor adventure. Goes up and down the stairs no problem and jumps on and off the couch. Legs too short to jump onto higher beds though, she's got a bit of a "pug frame" to her - shorter legs and a chonky girl body 🥰

Hi everyone as many of you know Natalya was having a very hard time with her old car! We tried our best to raise money and wanted to try to fix it! The problem was that no matter how many repairs this car needed it was still 20 plus yrs old 😞 Not safe always getting stuck and a big giant headache of issues! And literally worth nothing! Soooooo our amazing friends watching on the side lines and knowing All too well what it takes to run a rescue!!! Stepped in and let Natalya know from their own personal savings/retirement they will help her! They told her PICK OUT A CAR 🚗 A reliable NEWER car that you love that you can be safe in!!!!!!!! Our Story

New Life For Paws is a legally registered foundation on the island of Aruba.

The mission of New Life For Paws is to rescue as many stray, neglected and abandoned dogs as possible while spaying and neutering to reduce the overpopulation of street dogs in Aruba. We provide shelter, food and veterinary treatment for each of the rescue dogs that we save.

New Life For Paws has gained momentum and taken on a new life of it's own!

Since our humble beginnings, our team has grown, awareness has been raised, and we have joined forces with Aruba Flight Volunteers, a chaperone service to connect Aruba rescues with new "fur-ever" families in the United States.
