Created from the passion and determination of our founding member Natalya Yermak, New Life for Paws’ mission is to rescue as many stray, neglected, and abandoned Aruban dogs as possible while also advocating for spay/neuter programs to reduce the overwhelming amount of street dogs on the island. GUNNER NEEDS AN ADOPTER ❤️ please do not apply unless you are ready to take this sweet boy. He deserves to have a family bursting at the seams to take him home 🏠 he is now in a wonderful foster home and is blossoming getting a true chance🌸 but her dogs are not so welcoming so he has to find his family soon 🙏

Here is what we know about sweet Gunner. We know he is super affectionate 🤗 and just wants to be next to his person. If you have another dog who loves to play Gunner would be sooo happy. He just enjoys chillin chewing his bone 🦴

At New Life For Paws, we are committed to supporting our adopted pups through thick and thin! Our contract clearly states that if you ever need to rehome your pet, it must come back to us so we can assist in finding it a new home. When we share this news, many of us become understandably upset and frustrated.

Before you decide to adopt a Cunucu dog, there are a few crucial things you need to understand. We cover all of this during our discussions, but sometimes excitement can overshadow the important details. So, let's lay out some key points to consider when adopting a Cunucu puppy or adult:

🐆1. Expect Energy: Adopting a Cunucu is like bringing home a cheetah! These dogs are incredibly active and require more than just a short walk around the block. If you don’t have a spacious, fenced yard and the time to play, you need to think about how to ensure your pup gets enough exercise. Daily activities, including trips to dog parks or even doggy daycare, are a must! They need to run and burn off energy every single day. If that lifestyle doesn’t fit you, a Cunucu might not be the right choice.

🎾2. Boredom is Not an Option: If you work long hours and have to confine your Cunucu to a crate for extended periods, you could be setting your dog up for a frustrating life. Without exercise, your pup will be bored and could resort to destructive behavior. If you can't commit to exercising your Cunucu, then this breed is not for you.

📚3. Training is Essential: Your Cunucu will need professional training. These dogs are not the same as golden retrievers or labs; they're essentially street dogs in need of guidance. If you adopt a young pup, remember that without training, they will grow into unruly teenagers, which could lead to an unhappy experience for both you and your dog. If you're unable or unwilling to invest in training, then a Cunucu isn't for you.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒4. Supervise Interactions: If you have children, it’s vital that you supervise their interactions with your Cunucu. Kids should not pull tails, hang on the dog, or invade their space during mealtime or playtime. It’s shocking how often this needs to be emphasized, but many people overlook this. If your dog reacts by nipping or growling, it’s not fair to label them as aggressive. If you can't teach your children to respect your dog, a Cunucu is not the right fit for your family.

Our goal is to ensure that our pups are safe, exercised, trained, and happy. They are like family to us! Natalya and our Aruba team work tirelessly to rescue these dogs, while our team in the USA dedicates themselves to finding them the best homes.

Before you consider adopting a charming Cunucu, please read this post, discuss it with your family, and assess your finances for training, veterinary care, and other expenses. Owning a dog can be costly, and our dogs deserve the very best.

Think carefully before you decide to adopt, especially with the holidays around the corner.

🐾 Introducing Corrine! 🐾

Born on April 3, 2024, and tipping the scales at approximately 34 pounds, Corrine is a sweet and loving pup with a luxurious, silky coat that begs to be petted. 💙

Currently, Corrine is being cared for by her foster family, which includes her mom, dad, and three kids (ages 19, 17, and 13), as well as their 5-year-old female Cunucu. She adores everyone in the household and has formed a close bond with her canine companion. Corrine has thoroughly enjoyed her playdates with other neighborhood dogs, and if it has four legs and a wagging tail, she’s eager to befriend them! 🐶

🏡 Corrine is potty-trained and has a delightful disposition. She thrives in her foster home, where her mom works remotely. Corrine loves to be her work companion, always nearby and ready for a cuddle. Although she’s not keen on the crate, she relishes snuggling in bed and lounging on the couch during family TV time. As a professional lap dog, she’s sure to shower everyone with kisses! 🛋️💤

Corrine enjoys racing around the yard, showcasing her sp*ed, but she’s not overly energetic. On rainy days, she’s perfectly content to relax indoors, play with her toys, and chew on her favorite bones. She’s making great progress on the leash and just needs a little more practice to feel fully confident. 🚶‍♀️

When Corrine first arrived, she was a bit shy, but she’s blossomed into a playful and loving pup. She may be a little reserved around new faces, but once she gets comfortable, she’s all about belly rubs and affection. 🥰

New Life For Paws has been in big trouble with our bills lately! 🥺 We have been spaying and neutering street dogs and feeding sooo many dogs that are with families that can not afford to feed them. We have rescued and flown many but have also had to leave behind many that were too shy and not adoptable 😫 When this happens we try our best to find a safe area for them to stay and we then take on their vet and food bill for LIFE! This puts a tremendous strain on our rescue each and every month our food bills and vet bills become so incredibly high we just can’t get out of the black hole! 😭 We fundraise like crazy and we do really well but when our bills go up to 20k with all our vet accounts the kitty hotel the dog hotel Foster’s we have to pay and All the food we have to purchase and hand out to all the families… also Feeding all the street dogs AND Natalya’s pups she has in her care it’s just a never ending stressful nightmare of needing sooo much food/vet bills! I wake up each morning to constant messages of when will you pay???? We need food??? We need to bring this or that one to the vet??? This one needs an operation!! Just recently an entire big litter with Parvo it just seems so hopeless 😞 the babies survived Parvo Thank God but we have NO place to put them now so they will have to be boarded till they can hopefully fly (still on board) We are praying! Parvo treatment and Now boarding will be EXTREMELY Expensive 🙏
Anywayyyyy yesterday Natalya had pups to bring in and our vet account was closed she could not reach me I was in the middle of my own disaster so she decided in an absolute panic to call our amazing friends

after talking with her without hesitation they called one of our vets where we had a very large outstanding balance and they Paid it down to ZERO FOR US!!!!! Yess zero! 0️⃣

They are our hero’s they adore Natalya and are so loyal and supportive and generous and understanding!! Gunner urgently needs a dedicated adopter or a new foster home, although we prefer to avoid moving him around too much.

SIX starving little loves rescued yesterday now are facing a horrific disease… Parvo this is very very awful. Parvo is SO PAINFUL FOR THEM
And extremely dangerous for them they are unvaccinated sickly babies. They weigh what a tiny puppy should weigh and they are 9 months old 😭😭😭😭 This is the worst news ever! All the money I raised yesterday is going for our outstanding vet bills But NOW this Devastating news! Masha is about 19 lbs and 7 years old.
She would do well as an only dog or with larger ones 🐕 Masha loves her beauty sleep 😴 in a nice big bed sleeping 10 hours easily 😂

Masha is learning to show you her cues for outside 🚽 and crate training is a work in progress.

Just show this little girl her leash and she will spin in circles happily waggin her tail ❤️

Our Story

New Life For Paws is a legally registered foundation on the island of Aruba.

The mission of New Life For Paws is to rescue as many stray, neglected and abandoned dogs as possible while spaying and neutering to reduce the overpopulation of street dogs in Aruba. We provide shelter, food and veterinary treatment for each of the rescue dogs that we save.

​New Life For Paws has gained momentum and taken on a new life of it's own!

​Since our humble beginnings, our team has grown, awareness has been raised, and we have joined forces with Aruba Flight Volunteers, a chaperone service to connect Aruba rescues with new "fur-ever" families in the United States.
