Mark your calendars, save the date and watch for de .... tails! The Buchanan County Chamber of Commerce is making plans to host a Fun Dog Show at the Buchanan County YMCA this fall! Entry fee will be $15 which allows pups to be entered into two class events of competition. Additional events can be added for $3 each. Admission to watch the show will be $3 at the door with children 12 and younger admitted free! We're looking at a variety of class competitions and will narrow the final list, but some under consideration include waggiest tail, most talented, most like owner, best costume, most glamorous, most handsome, best puppy (0-2 years), best senior (7 years and older), ugliest dog, best special needs dog, best rescue story, most beautiful eyes, loudest bark and of course, Best In Show. Which ones do you like?!

We are a 501(c)3 organization. We also need donations of towels, baby blankets, throws….no comforters please. Stains and tears are fine!

This Wednesday, July 3, the Humane Society will have over 1000 pieces of clothing priced 2 for $1. Come shop and support us !

We are a very small group of volunteers who have worked hard to help animals. We do not get paid, we do not have a “boss” and do the best we can. We do NOT pay vet bills for animals who have owners. That would be at least $100,000 a year and it would take a whole lot of Paint Nights, Yard Sales and full- time fund-raising to do so. We do not “pick up animals”. We do not have a building to hold animals, we don’t have enough volunteers to walk, feed, clean up after animals. That is why we have govt funded shelter.
Legally, any “stray” animal has to be held at the shelter to give the owner 7-10 days to re-claim it.
Consider helping us unload food for a food pantry.
Donate towels for animals to be transported in a comfortable crate.
Offer to take animals to a spay/ neuter clinic.
Buy a bag of pet food to donate.
Have a bake sale and donate the proceeds.
Put a donation jar for loose change in your business.
Donate your unwanted stuff for an our annual yard sale.
Do something.

Please be in prayers for the family of our sweet Jessica who was a volunteer for several years. She was so compassionate and dedicated to help animals. We know she’s with her beloved Jack and Murphy but we are sure going to miss her. Rest in peace Jess.
