Happy National Dachshund Day 🌭- and Happy Summer Solstice 🌞, the longest day of the year! While ‘technically’ every day is National Dachshund Day 😉, today is a little extra special - and we wanted to share some very special photos we just received. A couple of weeks ago we did a session with the amazing photographer . We had been a huge fan of her work for a long time and and have shared her work (including her which is so powerful and moving.) We snagged a spot after a last minute cancellation when she was recently shooting in Brooklyn and had the best time! The girls did great in their first professional shoot - even if they were most interested in the craft services table! 😂
While Amanda photographs all types of dogs, she’s a long time doxie owner so she really gets the breed and how to bring out all of the quirky, funny and regal elements in 📸 photos. Hoping to do a with all three of these chuckleheads in five years. 🙏🙏🙏🥹🥹🥹

Mr. Tobbs, 4 years old, of . Happy Wirehair Wednesday, Everyone!We met Mr. Tobbs a couple of years ago at one of the dachshund extravaganzas in Washington Square Park but he wasn’t quite ready for his closeup at the time! We didn’t even know he had an Instagram until we caught glimpses of him on our friend ’s IG stories because she knows his dad! We were so happy to reconnect with him at the meetup a couple of weeks ago and get the full Mr. Tobbs treatment! What a sweetheart!

Samuel, 6 years old. We met Samuel while we were on a long walk with Ruby. He was a great little model who sat so nicely for his photo. He was transfixed by Ruby, though, and his eyes continued to intently follow her every move as he posed for his 📸! 😍😂 Possible romance brewing? ❤️

Stanley, 4 months old, of . There’s a new kid on the block and his name is Stanley. He recently got clearance to walk on the ground after getting his last 💉💉and Ruby spotted him at the end of the block. Shockingly, she did not bark (aka ‘go full-on psycho’) when she saw him despite her reactivity (aka ‘maniacal screeching/barking’) to dogs she sees on our block so we think she may have a soft spot for Stanley (and possibly dachshunds in general.) We are so excited to see more of this cutie and to watch him grow!

George, 4 months old, and Charlie, 10 years old, of ! Happy Wirehair Wednesday X TWO!
We met these two at the meetup and they were such a cute pair! Charlie recently had to have one of his eyes removed but he still a very smiley boy as you can see! It was so awesome to meet this dynamic duo!

Torpedo, 4.5 years old. It’s not every day (or every week or every month, for that matter) that you meet a standard dachshund in NYC so we were so excited to meet this very majestic boy! When we heard his name we realized he belonged to a long time friend of ours (who was not with him at the time.) Previously, she and her family had a standard doxie, Mahogany, who had been featured here but who sadly crossed the 🌈 at a fairly young age. Despite his size and name, Torpedo is a total mush and he happily rolled over in the middle of the sidewalk looking for belly rubs (although he’s not a huge fan of other dogs so Allie stayed in the stroller and looked longingly as we plied Torpedo with treats.) So great to finally meet you, Torpedo!

Ollie, 1.5 years old, of . We had so much fun at the meetup today in Greenpoint. The park is beautiful and located right by the water - definitely knows the spots! We got to fuel up on some coffee but the BIG highlight no doubt was the salmon treats for the pups (we even sprinkled some on their dinner tonight.) Thank you for such an awesome time!
Our fun day in Brooklyn wasn’t over, though, because afterwards we headed over to a 📸 studio in Bushwick where was shooting for the day! It was really a dream come true to have our pups photographed by Amanda and we are still on a high from the shoot! She’ll actually be back in Brooklyn in July so check out her website for deets and to book a spot! ❤️❤️

Finch, 1 year old, who we met in the park the other day. We also included a shot of Ruby and Allie - taking a 📸 of a dog is always challenging when we have our pups since they can get very excited when we’re using a treat or squeaker to get the shot!

REMINDER! The Doxie Fashion Show originally scheduled for this Sunday (6/8) with is CANCELED BUT is hosting a meetup in Greenpoint on Sunday from 10am-1pm. We’ll be there with our crew and it’s going to be such a fun time with lots of doxies 🌭 , coffee ☕️ and salmon 🍣 treats by !
It’s a free event but please register so they can get a headcount (and use code Dachshund NYC.) We hope to see everyone on Sunday! (We’ll drop the 🔗 again in our stories.)

May, 5 years old. Back by PUPular demand, it’s WIREHAIR WEDNESDAY! To be fair, we never actually got rid of it, there has just been a dearth of wire hair doxies crossing our path! But May (like the month) is ending the drought - and how beautiful is this bearded lady? We hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Dixie, 16.5 years old. We met up with this bicoastal cutie recently when she was back in NYC after spending part of the year on the west coast. Dixie travels all over the U.S. with her parents and has probably logged more miles than Taylor Swift’s private jet (and without the carbon footprint 😂🐾.) She’s become a connoisseur of dog parks across the country and yes, she has a favorite (it’s in Park City, Utah!) Dixie was adopted from a city shelter in Oakland, CA after being found on the street by the Oakland police. Her family hadn’t planned on adopting a doxie but when they saw her they knew that was it! Dixie’s survival skills were once again put to the test when she was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago but she beat that back (minus one toe.) Dixie wasn’t a huge fan of getting her 📸 taken but when her mom broke out her favorite treats things took a dramatic turn (for the better 😂.) Dixie will be celebrating her 17th birthday in August so let’s give an early shout out to this beautiful Queen 👑 👑 Ween! 🎉🎉(And can we talk about her amazing FLOOF!?) We really loved meeting you Dixie!
