I think big brother Oaklee (Kodiak X Scarlett) is finally getting used to the idea of having a little sister and has learned that maybe having Charlee (Mike X Secret) around isn’t too bad after all. He’s learned she makes a great playmate! Charlee has fit right in 🥰

I have big hopes for this beautiful girl! Nola caught my eye early on and I cannot wait to see the things we accomplish in the future! Spring show season can’t get here soon enough. She has awesome bone and coat and a lovely temperament. It’s taken me awhile to settle on a call name for this girl, I wanted something special and unique. Nola, meaning “white shoulder, famous, noble” and is also short for New Orleans, a city known for its’ voodoo magic history seems to fit almost perfectly. 🪄

IT’S GOTCHA DAY AGAIN!

Congratulations to the Polatis Family on their new addition, of Voodoo, now Leela! It was bittersweet seeing her off today. Leela will be helping to mend some broken hearts on their end and if I’m completely honest I going to miss this beautiful, spunky girl so much myself! Here’s to a new beginning and new chapter for the Polatis family and Leela 💕

If you guessed Charlee (formerly Wish—Magic Litter) then you’re right! This has been a long time coming and I don’t think either of them could have been more excited! If this isn’t love at first sight, then what is? She’s headed to sunny Florida to meet her big sister Gracee and big brother Oaklee (Kodiak X Scarlett)!

PUPDATE:

Toby (Mike X Sunday) on his first birthday! He weighs in at 76lbs now and is full of fun and curiosity. His Mom gets compliments all the time on how handsome he is. I have to agree, he’s a pretty handsome dude!

Wishing a very happy FIRST birthday to our Risqué litter, aka our miracle litter! This litter will forever hold one of the most special places in my heart. They went through an incredible journey to get where they are today. I’ve not shared their story publicly and how we lost Tess at 6 weeks, but their birthday feels like the right time.

At 6 weeks old this entire litter was diagnosed with Parvo. Tess was the initial puppy to exhibit symptoms. Tess was my keeper puppy, and she passed in less than 48 hours from onset of symptoms and diagnosis. I was DEVASTATED, and then the overwhelming thoughts hit me of what was going to happen next with the rest of the litter. I had no choice but to take it one day at a time and with the support of some incredible people, the rest of the litter (and me) got through it! Dallas didn’t have it easy though. He was nearly gone too. We tried a plasma transfusion as a last ditch effort because he was not ready to give up. It was clear the very next morning we made the right call. He was up and much perkier than he had been just the night before. He spent the next day hospitalized and got sent home because his voice had returned and he was feeling too good to be there 🤣. He went from being the largest puppy in the litter to being half the size of his siblings as the virus decimated his intestinal tract and caused him to not take in hardly any nutrition for 10 days. He ended up also fighting cellulitis and has a gnarly scar on his leg to show what he went through. It took until he turned about 4 months old to start looking like a healthy puppy again. He was 6 months old when he finally caught up to being that monstrous puppy he was before Parvo. The rest of the litter did well and bounced right back thanks to our amazing Veterinary team. Now at a year old that scar is the only thing left of the devastation that was just 10 1/2 months ago. How the litter contracted Parvo we’ll never know, but we think it was just the stars aligned for the perfect storm to brew and cause devastation. We’ve had two litters since this nightmare, we’ve changed our protocols in several different ways, I was extremely particular before, but now I’m obsessive compulsive and fight the constant anxiety of will it happen again? I wish I could say things have been easier, but I’ve had my fair share of heartbreak this year when it comes to the dogs. I will say, despite all the sorrow, I always try to find the “reason” why these things occur. And I realize we have been incredibly lucky through it all. I will always find myself wondering what Tess would have been like in present time, but she was too good for this world already even at 6 weeks of age. The amount of tears and heartache that went into this litter has been like no other and they were all such a special group of puppies.

The girls got some new collars this week for their ever growing selves.Tried getting some pictures in between all the storms today, but I had some very narrow windows to work with.

Miss Voodoo made sure to give me a few good pictures to share though. She’s pretty darn cute! She has a superb coat and is a great size too.

I will hopefully work on some more pictures tomorrow since it will be a little less rainy. Enjoy some of Voodoo for now!

PUPDATE:

Bear (Joker X Poppy) has been working on some new tricks! “Open” and “Hop Up”. His momma reached out a few weeks ago because Bear was getting frustrated jumping up into the boat from the ground while the boat was in the water. I gave Mom some homework on how she can work on it at home and she delivered! Bear picked up on “Hop Up” very quickly, showing how smart he is and how good of a teacher his Mom is. Nice work!

These girls had their last vet visit yesterday!
After getting pokes they got to make a visit to Tractor Supply and make a short pit stop off at the park as well. We’re *learning* how to walk nicely on a leash and especially as a group, and oh boy that’s organized chaos at best. They got lots of attention in their short visit before we headed home. Of course no park visit is complete without a Labrador becoming one with the water attraction (see video). Where there’s water, you can in fact find a Lab 😂

Charm (I’m still planning to change her name just nothing has stuck yet) took the cake for weight at their visit, she was 37lbs! She is going to be one BIG girl! This is such a good group of puppies, they love everyone they meet and are so eager to please.

We are still exploring options for Voodoo, but at this point keeping her under wraps until she’s at least completed some more advanced training. Unless the PERFECT fit happens to come along. She is a lovely puppy and has really blossomed the last few weeks.

A little Roo (Gator X Poppy) update. She is such a beautiful little lady. We took her out the other day for some one on one time and training. She reminds me sooo much of her Momma in a lot of ways. I just love her personality and she is such a sweet girl!
