After a great seizure scent learning session followed by a rewarding play time, Duke is resting. As I lie nearby reflecting on the session along with the many other thoughts running through my head, I glance over, pause, and am reminded of how truly amazing these creatures are and how grateful we humans are to have them in our lives.

Moose is such a handsome boy. He can be hard to photograph because his features are hard to see but there is a setting in portrait mode called stage lighting that really highlighted him so you could see his features better. Give it a try!

The Gutsy Mutts family has grown. Typically we do not take puppies, but I even have weak moments🤣. And when you have an awesome breeder willing to donate these cuties, it gets even harder to say no! And I’m totally blown away that they are potty trained and adapt so well. You can see the hard work Happy Top has put into the pups. So please welcome Peter the white mini Goldendoodle and Piper, the Australian Bernedoodle.

Teaching the dogs to tolerate a hair dryer today. Why is this important? If your dogs ever needs to go to the groomers, they may not be so terrified of the blower because they were exposed to the hair dryer. Also, for service dogs, they will come across the hand dryers in bathrooms, so this may help them when they do. This dog still amazes me. She was literally hours from euthanasia and a rescue pulled her and I was fortunate to train her…twice. She has worked for two wonderful young ladies. I’ll be the first to not put human emotions into dog behavior. But this happened tonight and it was like they knew this was their last time together. Brought a tear to my eye. Penny is leaving in the morning to start her work as a PTSD service dog in another state. Our Story

Hello! My name is Eileen Rouse and I am the owner of Gutsy Mutts Service Dogs. Before training service dogs, I trained killer whales, walruses, dolphins, beluga whales, seals, sea lions, and otters. The training is similar with all these animals as I use positive reinforcement methods I learned while working at Sea World of Texas. My passion has always been behavior and training and I’m so fortunate to be able to use my passion in training service dogs.
