Medical Needs and Lawsuit

Monte is our fawn-colored Corso. He recently visited the vet because of a lump on his side. We got the test results back, and unfortunately, it’s cancer. He will need to have the lump surgically removed and will also need to get caught up on his vaccinations. The surgery is going to cost $590.00. He also is looking for forever family and a sponsor or donations for his cancer surgery.

We have 1 dog that need to be fixed and help covering all of their shots and looking for new homes!
Kimber - Shots and Spay

Among various other medical issues, our rescue dogs have unfortunately contracted kennel cough. This illness is highly contagious and spreads rapidly. Fortunately, we were able to obtain the necessary medication and start treatment promptly.

Update Lawsuit:
We have successfully hired a lawyer for our upcoming court case. We are working on gathering additional funds to cover some paperwork and filing expenses. It is hard to concentrate on it because we are struggling just to keep our rescue dogs healthy and our monthly bills paid. We do appreciate your continued prayers.

With the extreme cold, our heat bill is double normal bill. Typically it’s $100, but this month it’s $249.67.

Keep in mind that no donation amount is too small! If all 7000 followers would give a dollar, we would never have a worry. All donations are equally as important to us! We have some amazing people supporting us every step of the way! 🙏🏼

Update: Wow! You guys have really stepped up for us again! We have a little bit more to go, so please share with your friends and family! 🥹🙏🏼

First, Chi Chi was originally neutered but unfortunately had some complications. He was required to get a second surgery, but he did recovered well from the procedure. Not long after, he started coughing, which led to another trip to the vet. During that visit, we learned that he has a heart condition that will require him to be on medication for life. Thankfully, he is on the mend and seems to be getting better. He is looking for a medical foster and a monthly sponsor to help cover his heart meds. $150.00 a month

We’ve recently welcomed Coal to the rescue. He’s an exuberant little guy, but unfortunately, he is heartworm positive. He requires vaccinations and needs to be neutered as well. His treatment also will involve monthly medication for at least a year. He to is looking for a sponsor to cover $30.00 a month and a forever family.

Transporting the numerous dogs making many trips to the vet has added to our overall expenses.

🚨Tips for the cold weather!🚨

Food * Water * Shelter

Your animals can be safe outside if they have suitable shelter that shields them from the wind and keeps them dry. When their fur gets wet, it loses its ability to insulate.

📍It's best to avoid using blankets or hay as they hold moisture and can freeze, with blankets becoming as hard as ice when wet! Instead, choose straw or shavings for insulation.

💔 If you come across an animal outside that doesn’t have adequate food, water, or shelter, consider stepping in to help! You could be their only chance for survival. One way you can assist is by offering helping to obtain suitable shelter for them. Kind gestures can truly have a meaningful impact, even if they aren’t always appreciated. If your help is rejected, please be sure to report the situation! If you think your worries are being disregarded, report again and again! You might just be that animal's last hope!

📍We are offering straw as part of our outreach to local friends and family. We have a limited supply. We also are offering a little bit of dog and cat food. One bale of straw is free. However, monetary donations are appreciated, but not required. We are not selling for profit.

🎁 Please send us a message and feel free to stop by around 5 PM at 4671 Old Madisonville Road, Hopkinsville, KY. It's first come, first served!

❌ Tip for frozen water bowls! ❌

📍A few people mentioned putting a crockpot outside on warm.

📍A plastic bottle filled with salt water can prevent your animals water bowl from completely freezing. Use about a quarter of the bottle with salt and then add warm water to dissolve it before adding the bottle to their water bowls. The bottle needs to float so you may not be able to fill the bottle up completely.

(Remember that it will not prevent the bucket or bowl from experiencing some freezing. However, it can assist in maintaining an open area so they can navigate through the ice to access the water.)

📍There are also suggestions to add a little bit of sugar to the cats' water bowls to help prevent them from freezing.

📍You can also include pure beet juice (not a juice cocktail) in the chicken's water supply. The lower freezing point of beet juice won't harm the chickens.

These suggestions generally aren’t effective in regions that experience extremely low temperatures for much of the winter. Residents in those areas will need to consider alternative solutions, such as heated water systems.

Today brought us a little surprise! My husband had a package waiting at the pickup center, and he got a notification to collect it. When he arrived, they started bringing out multiple boxes. He was caught off guard since he was only aware of one package. It turns out they hadn’t sent notifications for any of the rescue packages! I had no clue about all the items waiting for us.

I’m planning to open everything and express my gratitude tomorrow. I suspect some of these might be for the Christmas in the Kennels event. They likely would have been returned if no one claimed them. I’m really glad my husband received that notification!

He arrived here seeking help because his owner could no longer keep him out of the cold. He is potty trained and does not chew on things. Right now, he seems a bit downhearted. He came from a very nurturing environment. His situation is not due to anything he did wrong! He’s looking for someone who can let him relax on their sofa and provide him with plenty of love and attention.
