Congratulations goes out to Princess Poppy for graduating yesterday. When I first met Poppy, she had some skills already. In a training atmosphere, Poppy does well but did not apply the same skills at home. We needed to correct some of her nuisance areas. One of them being Poppy, who liked to plan out her family's day of when she needed to go out or when she needed something. She also didn't like to be excluded from house activities like eating at the dinner table or anything else her humans did without her. Now, when Poppy needed something, it wasn't just a simple bark. She has a bark that sounds almost like a scream, so you really know she's there. So we refreshed some of her training to make it more understandable. We dealt more with distractions and pushed her more on personal space and boundaries, and trust me, it was hard. Poppy gives you this sad, pitiful look into your soul, but I had to remind her owners to remain strong, and it was for the best. Poppy has made a lot of progress. She listens to both parents better. She can keep her composure, and she understands it's not the Poppy show 24/7. She is the baby of the house, so it is about her most of the time, but not all the time. She is also better about house guests and not acting like a lunatic on them where she had to be introduced outside on a leash. So, a lot of progress has been made by Miss Poppy. Congrats again, Poppy. We are all proud of you!

Congratulations goes out to Dozer for graduating basic obedience last week. When I first met Dozer, I was told his nickname was Dammit Dozer because he was notorious for taking things and running away, getting on things, knocking people over, and destroying anything he put his mouth on. Dozer was a mess, and mom was getting fed up. Even though a lot of these behaviors are typical puppy (especially lab puppy) behaviors, Dozer was getting big fast. So the first thing we did was teach the foundation, worked on the jumping and obnoxious behaviors, and address how Dozer needed more stimulation and supervision. A lot of habits for both humans and dog needed to be formed to just have an understanding that the more stimulation, both physical and mental, Dozer gets the less Dozer has the opportunity to get in trouble. Now, Dozer has come a looooooooooong ways. Dozer listens well to his commands. He's not as obnoxious, things aren't getting destroyed every day, and he's no longer Dammit Dozer. He is a lover and just wants everyone to love him, but he still has some geowing up to do. His dam has the tools and knows now what to do to keep pushing Dozer in the right direction. Congrats again, Dozer. We are all proud of you!
