Poor Moggsie was a bit tender one day but was fine the next. About 2 weeks later (with no tenderness at all,) we spotted a small abcess at the base of his tail, hidden under the fur. Investigation by the vet to stitch it back together revealed that it had tunnelled under his skin down his back and up his tail. If it had gone any further, he might have lost the use of his tail.
So PSA: always get your pets checked out.
