Woodhaven Lakes event is a wrap! Sadie had fun jumping Her Way, celebrating May birthdays as one of three (and an April), human fun & great pot luck. Sat weather was great, Sun not so much…. NOBODY put up a canopy, but the weather finally turned out nice. All dogs in our group did well. Oh yes, we had one “escapee” who made it on his own to the dock. Next up…Libertyville!!

Well, I’ve been swimming at the pool, jumping in some NADD events and just having FUN! Mom says I need a little break so will be taking the competition thing a little easy. HOWEVER, I’m looking forward to some of my favorite Dockdogs events… Woodhaven Lakes, & Dog Days of Summer in Libertyville… both in IL! I’ll be with my favorite Illinois & Alaska DD friends, so see you this Summer!!

What a 🔥🔥 weekend at the Sheboygan County Fair! Friends I haven’t seen in a while, temps in the 90’s, “fair” stuff & Jumping Dogs! Sadie had a fun time, did some “Sadie” jumps, & although she was hot & tired like all of us, held her own in Speed Retrieve (well, I pushed the lights & it didn’t quite work as planned onthe second run). Lesson learned… always make sure you have your bedroom light on when putting on shoes in the morning!

Well Sadie’s weekend at Door County fair isn’t turning out as planned. She got “limp tail” (I have witnesses) yesterday so I pulled her from her last wave. This morning I went back up to scratch her waves & pick up my canopy, etc. I get home & this is what I see…. Fastest limp tail recovery I’ve ever heard of. That’s my Crazy Sadie!

Libertyville Dog Days of Summer is a wrap! Such a FUN event with our friends, furry & human. Sadie was her “Do it My Way” self…. I swear she knows we have a short time on the dock & feels she is crowd entertainment & can get away with what she wants. She had fun jumping distance & got in the finals (however little girl was tired so we skipped that). After a first run blip from me I got my reaction time together, Sadie swam fast & got third in Nitro!

As tradition, our regular core friends were there, including our Alaskan friends who come to Libertyville each year as their only DockDogs event. We are truly a “Community,” our canopies are like one big village, mingling, helping each other & having fun…. & getting stuffed with great food, “lower 48” as well as special Alaskan goodies made by Gene. We are becoming known for providing food for competitors, staff & Knights of Columbus who put on the event (all weekend!). Always a great THANK YOU to Libertyville Knights of Columbus for being great hosts and Travis, Tristan & CJ our GREAT DockDogs staff who did an AWESOME job!!! To my Special Libertyville DockDogs friends, can’t wait for next year!,

While I had my first checkup after my Oral Melanoma diagnosis, mom took a little drive to Mendota County Park. The results???? Exam was excellent and my thoracic xrays were “boring.” (Mom & the Oncologist love Boring!!). Yaaaay!!!! Next checkup is in three months. Until then, “See you on the Dock!!”

What..? There’s actually a place in the fields called Woodhaven Lakes in Sublette ,IL that is green, has grass, trees & lakes? You bet. They also have the DockDogs Wildcard event! Today was GREAT! Fun with my IL, MN & other friends, & the Admin Staff. Sue & Sherri made sure there was enough great food to snack on. The BEST was seeing Sadie have FUN!!! Rest time, & back at it again tomorrow!!

If you’re 9 and you took Second place in Speed Retrieve, you need to rest. On the first run mom false started… by 0.001 of a second! I was jumping Big Air for fun but still got into finals.., we’re deciding to pass this time. Next weekend, Woodhaven Lakes Wildcard event!

Speed Retrieve

First dockdiving event outside is always Bergstrom Subaru Loves Dogs, with DockDogs. Its fun, its great to see many friends, its nice to see new people getting started. The weather was bee-u-t-full by the way. Sadie didn’t do all that great but as I’m reminded, “she’s just coming back from injured reserve.” At least she had a Speed Retriieve time in her division. Next week… a NADD event!

Somedog went to rehab & went in the underwater treadmill for the first time. She didn’t understand 1) Why can’t I jump in? 2) Why is it so small? 3) Why is the floor moving? 4) Why is the water only halfway up my legs? 5) Why can’t I swim? BUT, peanutbutter during laser & when I do other things is GREAT! Mom…. When do we go back?

While Sadie is on restrictive activity, “No Wake Lexi” takes over at the pool.

...and this is how it all started. Very first time ever in water, 4mos. old!

Well, crappy weather, two days, four fast CAT runs & only one time on the books this weekend. The first run she noticed the grouping of people but finished her run. Three times down Sadie saw the group of timers & admin people next to the fence & decided... “Oh, NO! They aren’t going to catch me & take me off my fun time on the course!” She does a turn-around & races back to the start, to the line where the lures come back.... they will come back to her, after all! (She’s NEVER done this in the past). Sometimes its soo frustrating to have a dog that really thinks.

At the end of day one, after Air Retrieve Sadie volunteered to pick up the bumpers..... she just had a hard time putting them away!
