April 26 is National Kids and Pets Day.
Today, we can celebrate the bonds children and pets share. There are many benefits of having a pet in a child's life.
It is also important to remember that small children (and the pets) may not know their limitations and their interactions should be supervised to prevent injury.
Here are some good interaction tips.

The warmer temperatures sure are adding joy to our walks, but please keep watch on your fur-legged babes when out walking these days.

A reminder to please do your best to keep your pets a safe distance from frozen lakes, ponds and streams when out walking. The thickness of the ice can be deceiving and there are weak areas that can give way at any moment.

Keep your dog close to you by using voice commands or temporarily attaching their leash near frozen bodies of water. For more information visit edmonton.ca/goodyegdog.

If a pet or person falls through the ice, call 911 immediately.

Sorry for the duplicate heat posts, but these are important PSAs.

At 10:00am in Edmonton, it's 31.4 degrees already, and inside this car, it's already 50 degrees.

In the shaded backseat, it's still 48 degrees.

The safest place for your pets today is at home. Don't risk your animals' lives, even if it's just a short stop at a store. Dogs will suffer heat stroke in just a few minutes in today's heat.

Do you know the signs of heat stroke in your pets? Watch your pet for these signs during intense heat.

T'is the season of hot days.

It's a hot one! And animals feel the heat too. Just a reminder that the temperature in a car on a day like today will top 40 degrees in just 10 minutes, even in the shade. And since dogs lack the ability to sweat, they'll suffer heat stroke in just minutes.

On a day like today, the safest place for your dog is at home.
