Pearl's broken leg has healed and she's doing great - loves playing with the puppies at her foster home in Virginia. Pearl has come a long way from her tough start , found abandoned with a broken leg. She is felling much more settled in a home environment, walking on a leash and meeting new people. KitKat was off to the vet last week in preparation for her transport north to our rescue. She's sweet, friendly and gentle. Even though she's a bit tentative in new situations that tail is always wagging! KitKat is one of three hound sisters that were all dumped in rural Central Virginia. Sam is a cute hound mix who is originally from Mississippi. He's no more than 2 yrs old, but still very puppyish in his activity level and play style. Sam is 42 lbs; a smart little dog who learned how to use the doggie door at his foster home right away. He is good with other dogs and currently fostering with a dog-savvy cat. Sam loves to run with other dogs. He is fast so is usually in the lead! Sam is extremely friendly and lovable. He's very quiet for a hound, knows how to sit and has a soft mouth. Sam has learned the comforts of home and tries very hard to be a lap dog although he barely fits on your lap! He has an endearing way of slowly climbing up onto your lap so he may be able to climb a chain link fence. Sam LOVES everyone. He would probably do best with children over 8 as he gets easily startled when sleeping. Sam is available for visits southwest of Boston.
Annie is cute little foxhound who just arrived from Tennessee and is looking for a Forever Home. She loves to play fetch - unusual for a hound! Annie is 2-3 years old and weighs 40-45 lbs. She was abandoned by her family and has some separation anxiety. She likes to have her people around and will cuddle up with someone while sleeping. She’s getting settled in her foster home and doing well with housebreaking, walking on leash nicely, and learning some obedience commands. Her ideal home will have a fenced yard and a human who likes to play fetch ! Tennis balls included.

Ralph is here and available for adoption!
Ralph is a sweet foxhound from Virginia, about 2.5 years old and weighing about 45 lbs. Ralph was taken in as a stray by a Virginia family; he stayed there for over a year but they could not keep him. A neighbor then kept Ralph and helped him find his way to NECR - he arrived in Massachusetts a few months ago and has been in a foster home in southern NH. He loves to play chase and run around with the hounds there. Ralph is an active young foxhound who enjoys his time outside. He's housebroken but will need some reinforcement in a new home. He's worked with a trainer and knows some obedience commands. He's a cuddler and bonds with his people; he warms up to strangers slowly. Ralph will be a great hound companion in the care of someone experienced with hounds, who can give him structure and patience. He's been through a lot of changes in his young life and just needs a chance to settle in, gain confidence and feel secure.

Meet Ethyl and Fred! They will be arriving this week and are available for adoption.
Ethyl and Fred are two strays from Virginia who will be headed north this week. They are suspected to be littermates and were trapped together in the same trap. They are about 6 months old and weigh about 25-30 lbs. Their adult weights should be around 50 lbs. Fred is the redtick and Ethyl is the tricolor. Fred is more shy than Ethyl, but they are both friendly. We are hoping to adopt them together, but may consider adopting them separately into homes with another hound.
