Hon Timothy Sini,
Just wanted to reach out to applaud all your hard work and that of your staff for bringing down one of the largest dog fighting rings in Suffolk County. This is such an enormous undertaking and one that has needed attention for far too long.
Many of us in animal rescue struggle with the aftermath of these dogs and the horrors it entails.
Laws are too lenient, with abusers getting little or no punishment for the heinous crimes they commit against innocent animals. These infractions should not be in Market and Ag, but felonies and prosecuted by judges as such. The abusers should also be made to cover medical costs from their ill-begotten profits from these illegal activities. I understand you are reviewing this as well.
Again, thank you so much Hon Sini for your passion and foresight to move forward with prosecuting these egregious crimes.

Many believe this is an old practice that is nonexistent when in fact its a growing thriving money making business that is flourishing in our area SUFFOLK COUNTY NY. As the news media stated this practice crosses state lines. Dogs are transported all over the country to participate in this sick depraved blood sport. Dogfighting is one of the most heinous forms of animal cruelty. Fights can happen in a variety of locations and our community is no exception. This week it was announced that the Suffolk County DA’s office and Suffolk County Police, along with local, state, federal, and non-governmental agencies busted 10 individuals all alleged to be participating in an interstate dog fighting ring, the largest in Long Island history. This case resulted in the rescue of 89 dogs.

We commend the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, Tim Sini and Suffolk County Police Department for tackling this epidemic head on. Please reach out DA Sini at [email protected] and thank him for his work on this case and ask his office to seek the maximum penalty for these defendants.
