Mayday the Minister Mayday the Minister is a very special rescue dog who now is being used by God to minister to others by bringing love, comfort and joy to all those he meets.

Mayday is a dog who was dumped near a highway and subsequently was hit by a car on Interstate 39 near LaSalle, Illinois. He had very severe injuries including broken pelvis, broken hip, damaged sc***um, a destroyed left rear leg, and severe shock. A couple of passerby’s noticed him lying in the medium of the interstate and contacted Illinois Valley Animal Rescue (IVAR) who came immediately and res

cued him from the interstate. He was brought to Progress Park Animal Hospital in Peru, IL. where they saved his life, but had to amputate his left rear leg. After 23 days in the hospital Mayday was adopted and went home with his owner for extensive rehab. Now Mayday is a happy boy who loves people and bringing comfort and joy to all he meets, whether in nursing homes or just walking in the neighborhood.

Last pictures of the Pistol Shrimp Baseball game last night and “Bark in the Park!” Mayday was energetic and helped his daddy with the first pitch to Henry of the Pistol Shrimp. Mayday visited this lady (Fran) just 11 days ago, but her health took a turn for the worse a week ago and she passed away this morning at 98 years old. Mayday and Fran have been friends ever since we visited her husband at the Veterans Home almost 10 years ago. He passed away in 2016 and now another of the “Greatest Generation” is no longer with us. May Fran rest in peace. She was a wonderful lady who Mayday enjoyed visiting.

It’s National Rescue Dog Day and here is sweet Mayday who was rescued by Illinois Valley Animal Rescue on May 1st, 2014! He is now 14 and really slowing down and semi-retired from the unbelievable ministry of bringing love to people.

Huge thank you to Hero Nutrition in downtown LaSalle for their generous donation to Illinois Valley Animal Rescue AKA IVAR. They hosted Mayday’s ten year rescue anniversary last Saturday which raised $2,600 for IVAR and $1,000 of that came from Hero Nutrition.
