ADOPTED !!!

Ella is a 7 yo 15 lb female salt & pepper miniature schnauzer looking for her forever home in PA, DE, MD, VA, DC. She is very timid and gentle. She is quiet, calm, and laid back. She came into rescue from a retired breeder.

She is house-trained. She is being spayed in rescue this week, is up-to-date on vaccines, and had a dental this summer.

She enjoys going on walks. She has learned to walk on a leash with a harness. She rides well in the car. She does not play with toys. She doesn't have separation anxiety.

Ella easily goes into her crate. She enjoys her safe space in the crate. Her foster leaves the crate door open and she goes in and out, but mostly prefers to stay in. This may be because her foster has a very active home with small children. Ella is scared of children running around but has shown no signs of aggression. When Ella is at home alone without the children she goes to the foster’s husband often and sits for pets. So we feel she will flourish with time and a quieter environment.

She is a quiet girl as far as barking. Even when she encounters dogs on her walks, she does not bark, but just looks at them. She enjoys being petted by people she encounters while out on walks.

She likes to eat with no one around and was used to free feeding prior to coming into rescue. She needs an experienced groomer as she is not fond of grooming.

Ella would do best in a quiet, less active environment without young children. She doesn't mind being around other animals so we feel she would do well with another dog in the home if the dog is laid back and not wanting to play with her.

Ella's adopter will be required to take her through obedience training. If you are interested in adopting Ella, please private message us for an adoption application.

ADOPTED !!!

Sunni is a beautiful 1 yo 18 lb. female salt & pepper miniature schnauzer looking for her forever home in PA, DE, MD, VA, DC. She is friendly, playful, and very active but also a lapdog that loves attention. She is house-trained and crate trained. She is a normal schnauzer barker but does respond to a “no bark” command. She loves playing with squeaker toys. Sunni loves her walks. She walks great on a leash using a harness. She rides well in the car.

She was recently spayed in rescue and is up-to-date on vaccines.

Sunni does not get along with other dogs in the home so should be an only dog. She was not socialized with other dogs in her previous home. She is currently not getting along with a laid back dog in her foster home. She growls and barks at him. She is OK with children 10 and older. A fenced yard is a plus but not required.

Sunni's adopter will be required to take her through obedience training. If you are interested in adopting Sunni, please private message us for an adoption application.

Sadie is an 8 yo 16 lb. chocolate/liver female mini schnauzer looking for her forever home in PA, DE, MD, VA, or DC. (more pics in comments). She is a friendly, barky, playful, active dog who loves attention and is a lapdog. She is house-trained and crate trained. She likes playing with toys and fetching them.

She was spayed in rescue as well as having bladder stones removed. She will need to be on urinary prescription food the rest of her life to prevent the stones from reoccurring. She is microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines.

Sadie would do best in a townhome or single family home with a fenced yard. Children should be age 10 or older.

She does not get along with dogs living in the home, so should be an only dog.

Sadie's adopter will be required to take her through obedience training. If you are interested in adopting Sadie, please private message us for an adoption application.

We are looking for someone within an hour’s drive of our vet in Laurel. MD to foster an almost 1 yo male mini schnauzer as an ONLY pet. Unfortunately, all our currently available fosters have other pets in the home.

This little guy is neutered and up to date on vaccines, but may require vetting. Foster will need to be able to continue working on his behavior training. He is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. He has anxiety which may be alleviated being an only pet. He has also shown aggression with another dog when owner gives that dog attention. Family has already worked with a certified trainer and behavior trainer. It is best if he is an only dog.

He is barky so townhome or single family home will be best. Experience with behavioral issues and reinforcement of training needed. No children under 10 in the home. If you are interested, please message us.

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!

Jim is too cute for words! He is still looking for his forever home in PA, DE, MD, VA, or DC. Jim is approximately 14 months old and 16 lbs. He is housetrained and crate trained. He was just groomed and vetted.

He is a very sweet boy who loves attention, being petted, and being with his person. He is very active as all puppies are. He is not a barker (yet). He loves playing with toys. Jim enjoys 1-2 walks a day and romping in his fenced yard. He gets along with children.

Jim needs an ALL FEMALE home. He growls at men. He does not adjust over time with patience. We have tested him in two foster homes. We feel this is due to his fear of the puppy mill breeder he came from.

An adopter will be required to take Jim through dog obedience training. If you are interested in adopting Jim and meet his adoption criteria, and live in our adoption area, please private message us for an adoption application.

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!

Jim is looking for his forever home in PA, DE, MD, VA, or DC. Jim was sold with his littermate brother at 10 months old by a puppy mill breeder to a family. The family returned Jim after a bit, saying he wasn't working out with the family and was not getting along
with the husband. The family had neutered Jim so the breeder turned Jim over to rescue.

Jim is 1 year old (13 months old) and 16 lbs. He is housetrained and crate trained.

He does not adjust over time or taking things slowly. We have tested him in two foster homes. We feel this is due to his fear of the puppy mill
breeder.

An adopter will be required to take Jim through dog obedience training..

If you are interested in adopting Jim and meet his adoption criteria, and live in our adoption area, please private message us for an adoption application.

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!

Sasha & Millie are a 1.5 yo female bonded pair (littermates). They will only be adopted together. They are approx. 17 lbs. Sasha is white and Millie is a white with black parti. The are looking for a home in PA, DE, MD, VA, or DC. They are up to date on vaccines, heartworm/Lyme tested, and will be spayed before leaving rescue.

Both girls are housetrained. They are used to a quiet, less active environment with a fenced yard so are looking for the same. They are not used to walking on a leash so their foster is working on leash training. They are friendly and playful. They recently came into rescue, so we are still learning about their needs.

An adopter will be required to take Sasha and Millie through dog obedience training and continue to work on leash training..

If you are interested in adopting Sasha and Millie and meet their adoption criteria, and live in our adoption area, please private message us for an adoption application.

REESIE - ADOPTED!

Reesie is a 4-year-old beautiful gray female miniature schnauzer looking for her forever family in PA, DE, MD, VA, or DC. She is 16 lbs. She is microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm/Lyme tested, and spayed.

Reesie is a sweet, barky, playful, active, adult visitor friendly, lapdog/cuddler, and loves getting lots of attention. Reesie loves to bark a lot. She spends her time following her foster around everywhere in the home or barking at people and dogs she sees out the window. She loves to go on long walks and walks at a fast pace on the leash (she does pull when barking). She does not play with toys. She is house-trained and crate trained.

Reesie was originally adopted by a family from a shelter and had come into the shelter as a stray, so background unknown. She was adopted by a family with 5 children and another mini schnauzer. Unfortunately, she gets overly excited with younger children and lots of activity in the home and then acts out aggressively with other pets or nips at the younger children. She also has jealousy issues with other dogs.

Due to Reesie’s background, she is looking to be the only pet in the home, which is an adult only townhome or single family home with a fenced yard. If you are interested in adopting Reesie, meet her adoption criteria, and live in our adoption area, please private message us for an adoption application.

Happy New Year!

As the calendar year comes to a close, Schnauzer Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic would like to thank you for your support throughout the year! We could not provide our rescue services without your support or the dedication of our volunteers.

This week marks the end of our annual fundraiser to replenish our Veterinary Fund. Donors like you make it possible for us to get our dogs the veterinary care they need so they can find their way to their forever home.

If you have already donated to SRM, THANK YOU! If you are still looking for that last-minute tax-deductible donation, please consider giving to help our dogs. Donations can be made at https://schnauzerrescue.net/Donate.htm

Thank you in advance!
Warmest wishes to you and yours in 2024!

Today is Giving Tuesday. It is a global day of giving. Please join the movement by donating to Schnauzer Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic. Through your continued generous donations, mini schnauzers are given a second chance at life.

Since 2002, SRM continues to rescue miniature schnauzers given up through no fault of their own and adopt them to families throughout MD, VA, DE, PA, and DC.

All donations received during this campaign will go directly to our Veterinary Fund, as they always do. Replenishing this Fund affords us the means to provide medical care to dogs in rescue, and sets them on the path to their new forever home! Schnauzers coming into our care need vaccines, neutering/spaying, dentals, removal of growths, treatment for skin conditions, surgical procedures, prescription food, and monthly preventatives (heartworm, flea/tick).

Our Veterinary Fund helps mini schnauzers like Jet. Jet is a puppy sold by a puppy mill breeder to a buyer, who found he had a grade 3 heart murmur and returned him. The breeder was going to euthanize him. SRM stepped in and saved Jet. Jet received all his puppy vaccines and saw a cardiology specialist to determine the cause of the murmur. He had an echocardiogram which determined there was a hole that needed to be repaired. Jet had cardiac surgery soon afterwards and now can live a normal life. He will be going home with his adoptive family in early December!

Tax-deductible donations can be made through the SRM website at schnauzerrescue.net/Donate.htm (check or PayPal). Thank you in advance for your support!

UPDATE - ADOPTED!

Reesie was just groomed. Isn't she beautifull! She is still looking for her forever home and would love to be in her permanent home for the holidays.

She is a 4-year-old gray female miniature schnauzer looking for her forever family in PA, DE, MD, VA, or DC.

She likes to walk at a face pace on the leash and does pull when barking. She does not play with toys. She is house-trained and crate trained.

Reesie was originally adopted by a family from a shelter and had come into the shelter as a stray, so background unknown. She was adopted by a family with 5 children and another mini schnauzer. UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!

Meet Lola and Kobe, a bonded mini schnauzer pair looking for their forever family in PA, DE, MD, VA, or DC. They will only be adopted together to a home with no other pets. A fenced yard (privately fenced, not a dog park) is preferable as they love to run around the yard together and play. They do love walks. No children younger than teenagers due to Kobe and Lola's background.

Both Kobe and Lola are well behaved and sweet little dogs. They love people and are total cuddle bugs. They are up-to-date on vaccines and have had dentals. Kobe was neutered and Lola came into rescue spayed. Both dogs are house trained and crate trained. Kobe plays with toys and neither has food aggression. They tolerate being brushed daily.

Kobe is a 6 yo, 13 lb., barky lapdog. He has been a bit nippy with young children. We suspect he was tormented while in his crate. An adopter will have to be careful reaching into the crate with Kobe..

Lola is a 5 yo, 11 lb, friendly dog. She is shy when first meeting strangers.

If you are interested in adopting Lola and Kobe, meet their adoption criteria, and live in our adoption area, please private message us for an adoption application.

ADOPTED!

UPDATE: Jet had successful surgery on Tuesday. He spent overnight at the vet. He will be cooling his jets for the next two weeks on pain meds and tranquilizers to keep him calm. Then the stitches will come out. We didn’t get a lot of donations to help with his bills, so could still use some help.

Jet, our puppy in residence, saw the cardiologist on September 12th. He has a grade 2-3 heart murmur. He has a hole that didn’t close at birth. The hole will be closed up with a surgical procedure that doesn’t require his chest to be opened. So he will have a much easier recovery. He’s had a cardiology visit, echocardiogram, EKG, and pre-surgery bloodwork done and will have the procedure done on October 3rd. He will have a normal life after the procedure and will be available for adoption. We will know more after the procedure.

In the meantime, SRM would appreciate donations for our vet fund which pays for this surgery, specialist appts, echocardiogram, bloodwork, etc. Thanks in advance for your help! http://schnauzerrescue.net/Donate.htm

We have taken in several dogs recently all of whom need expensive vetting. Lola and Kobe are a bonded pair. They both needed vaccines and dentals. Kobe was neutered. Jet is a puppy with a grade 2-3 heart murmur. He is finishing up his vaccines and waiting for his cardiology specialist appointment for an EKG and echocardiogram. Another schnauzer came in who needs vaccines and a dental. We would really appreciate donations to replenish our vet fund. All donations go directly to our vet fund. We have an immediate need for fosters in MD and northern VA within an hours drive of Laurel, MD. We have a male and female bonded pair needing a temporary foster Aug 13-20 to cover for a foster on vacation. They are both house trained and crate trained. We have a 6 yo male needing a foster. There are also schnauzers popping up in shelters that we cannot respond to.

If you would like to foster, please message us. We will send you a foster application, and set up an interview and home visit. Fosters are responsible for food, unless prescription food is needed, and love and care. The rescue takes care of vetting and grooming.
