ISO:

Casually starting the search for a very special & deserving adult amateur client of mine for her next lifetime equine partner.

This client offers an educated private farm home with a wonderful new barn, fields, arena, top notch care and companion equines already in place for her next life partner, along with farrier, trainer, and vet references in place as well.

Must Haves:

Age: 8-12yrs old with wiggle room for the perfect one

Height: 15.2 hands (if stocky), prefer around 16 hands, client is tall & lean build with long legs

Breed: Crosses preferred, although client has years of OTTB experience, not looking for a TB at this time.

Ideally looking for - Appendix, QH crosses, CB crosses, thicker built types with bigger bone & excellent feet.

Good mares welcome to apply along with puppy dog type geldings, brain is most important here!

Temperament: Good brain a MUST, a bit more on the push to go side but NOT dead to the leg, willingness to go & learn miles & miles of trails solo and in a group, easy loader, must tie, bath, all the good citizen things is required. No rehabs at this time please.

Nicely and correctly started with some miles out ideal, will consider well started equine that a trainer perhaps pushed to the back burner, but would come back nicely with a 30 day program under a local trainer.

On a scale of 1-10 for temperament, I’d say our search is for a 4 out of 10, 1 being a complete deadhead & 10 being a spicy beast!

The Job: Good brained flat horse for pleasure riding at home in the arena & ability to make into an all around safe trail horse. Solid & Sound, I mean SOUND, WT and occasional C horse, will NOT be jumping etc.

Not interested in something with a lot of over fences miles, it’s not needed for this client & the wear/tear isn’t desired from anything looking for a step down job.

This will be a forever home, so health and soundness, along with the right brain & safety for an intermediate adult rider is MOST important.

Minimal maintenance okay depending on equine; such as, front shoes, but nothing needing injections or crazy meds monthly please.

Locations for search: Western MD, PA, WV, VA, within 100 miles of Washington County, MD

Budget: Mid to upper 4’s with some wiggle room for the perfect one!

Lastly, the perfect candidate will be vetted, X-rays, blood pull etc., as this client is providing a top notch FOREVER home for the right partner.

BEMER SCHEDULING UPDATE - THIS WEEK

Hey folks, I am having Bi-Lateral Hip Injections this Tuesday, so unfortunately I will not be available to do any Bemer sessions this week.

My schedule post Labor Day has been a bit crazy to get everyone in this week for Bemer treatments, so I think I’m going to create an availability calendar to help with scheduling 😉

I hope to have the calendar posted within a few days & for anyone I didn’t get to this week that wants to get Bemer done, please PM me & I will get you taken care of.

Weather is great and the horses are feeling frisky!!

They all seem to be getting along in the Odd Duck Hen House.

We started intigrating our 6 week old girls with the Golden Girls and Henry. So far so good. They get the run of the chicken run during the day and the older ladies free range. We have the back door open to the coup, so we shall see if they use it to lay eggs.

Turn volume up!!! Desensitize them folks & thank you to my neighbors for the target practice behind us 24/7… my horses could care less 🤣🤣🤣

Lesson Rules & Guidelines – Odd Duck Horse Farm

· Payment is due at the time of lesson and at the first class of each month for lesson packages.

· Lessons are scheduled through Odd Duck Horse Farm LLC farm page: Please message through the farm page or text 302-519-2358

· 24-hour notice is required for cancellation of lessons or you will be expected to pay for the lesson. We expect you to call or text 302-519-2358 to cancel the lesson or it will be counted as a no-show and forfeited.

· Emergency Absence: If you experience a sudden illness, accident, or other serious emergency, and must cancel less than 24 hours in advance, we still require that you call/ text us.

· Absences: If you cancel your scheduled lessons frequently for whatever reason, we will not be able to hold your time spot.

· Late Arrival: You must call/ text us if you are running late for your lesson. If you are more than 10 minutes late, it will be considered a “no show” and you will be charged for the lesson. Additional time will not be added to the end of lesson to make up for any tardiness.

· Lesson Packages: Lessons must be taken within the 4-week period from the start of the lesson package purchase.

· Missed lessons must be rescheduled within 30 days or will be forfeited.

· Appropriate attire including an approved riding helmet, long, close fitting pants, and socks that cover the ankles, and a low-heeled boot or shoe, (no tennis shoes, please).

· Rider Grooming: Hair should be pulled back in a low ponytail or braid and out of the face.

· Weather Cancellations: Please visit our farm page for the status of lessons in the event of bad weather, or text 302-519-2358. Our guidelines for weather related lesson cancellations are as follows:

· The temperature is under 40 degrees

· The temperature is over 100 degrees

· High winds

· Anticipated severe storms – Thunder/ Lightening

· In the case of rain, lessons may still continue in the barn and will include grooming, equine medical care, braiding, barn management. Please text to confirm.

· Arrival Time: Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before the lesson. Riders are expected to learn to catch, groom, and tack their horse. Riders should be on time for their lesson. If the rider is more than 10 minutes late for their lesson, the lesson may be cancelled and charged as a no-show.

· Parents are expected to assist their children who are unable to catch and tack up their horse independently.

· Late Arrivals: Lessons will begin on time. If you are more than 10 minutes late preparing for the lesson, your lesson will have to be rescheduled or forfeited.

· Departure Time: Please plan to allow 15-20 minutes after the lesson to properly care for your horse. If not being used in a following lesson, your horse or pony will need to be untacked, brushed or hose down in warmer weather, and returned to their pasture. Please check with the instructor after the lesson for directions.

· All students and parents must read and agree to our Barn Rules and our Lesson Rules & Guidelines.

· All students must sign and submit a liability waiver form. Please print the liability waiver form which is due on the first class date. Minors must have a parent/guardians sign the form to grant permission to ride.
