Western Carolina Hunter Pace

A series of competitive horse trail rides in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.

Hunter Paces vary in different parts of this country, but everywhere that I've ever heard, they are a fun way to get out and about with our horses, enjoy trails we normally don’t have access to and compete in a friendly game. As with recent seasons, the Western Carolina Hunter Pace & Trail Ride Series Events will normally be between six (6) and twelve (12) miles in length. The individual flyers sh

Also we have updated the site a little to make it work a little bit quicker and (Hopefully) prettier.

With the kick-off of the 2023-2024 season, I want to thank each and every one of you! Katie and I will work our very best magic to attend all hunter-pace events and provide imagery. After trial and error, I believe the system for this year will be much better. All galleries will be one link...however will be separated accordingly by event.

Ladies and Gentlemen I hope you are ready for (CORRECTION)….SUnDaY… Hunter Pace at Windridge Farms!!!

Fun facts:
Alicia is the farm/property owner. They have been on their 250 acres since the 70’s. Windridge has been participating in the WCHP circuit for 10+ years. Sunday riders can expect a full pace along with the mini for smaller riders.

Who else is excited for the start of the 2022-2023 Hunter Pace circuit starting tomorrow at Scotsgrove Stables ?!

Fun facts:
Leslie is the incredible owner of the stable/property at Scotsgrove. She has been hosting Hunter Pace events for roughly 25 years on the property. (How incredible is that?) Not only does her course run a full 6-12 mile hunter pace…but also a mini. These minis are targeted more to the younger riders who other wise wouldn’t be able to handle a full hunter pace. With great weather predicted for tomorrow I cannot wait to see the turn out, and all the beautiful riders and horses!

FENCE Fall and Windridge Winter are swapping dates for this season.

As we see around the area, with the recent rains, there are some soil erosion issues on the FENCE/FETA trail system that need to be taken care of as soon as possible. Since that damaged area impacts a major trail link, alternate plans needed to be made for the FENCE Fall Hunter Pace. We knew no one would want to see it cancelled!

A few phone calls later, and I think we've come up with a great alternate plan! The FENCE Fall Hunter Pace scheduled for November 7th and the Windridge Winter Hunter Pace scheduled for December 5th will be swapping dates for this season. Windridge Farm graciously being able to work the change with FENCE allows an additional four weeks for the repair work to [hopefully] get done, and if not, FENCE plans to run a Poker Ride which will wind thru their Cross Country Course, probably some of the steeplechase course and their close in trails. Want more mileage? We're working on the easiest way to let you enjoy the loop again.

Stay tuned for the details and their flyers to be posted soon. In the meantime, we just wanted to let you all know that the next Hunter Pace after next weekend's Halloween with Green Creek Hounds will be the Windridge Farm's "Winter" event [even though it won't quite be winter yet]. Then the Goodwin Hounds Thanksgiving Hunter Pace and we'll finish off the 2021 portion of the 2021-22 Series at FENCE!
