Freezers are borderline almost full at this point and will be calling a year and a half turnaround at this time. Space will free up eventually but for the time being I am swamped with finishing last years orders and getting skins processed.
Alaska order complete. Books are wide open looking at a 10 month turnaround at this time. Waiting on a lot of people to commit to ship birds so if you have anything ready, you'll want to get them in when you can. Locally we are open Monday - Friday 10 to 6 by appointment
Currently at the World Taxidermy Championships in Iowa. Competitors don't get to enter the showroom til tomorrow so here's a look at one of the Turkey Taxidermy displays at a booth at the trade show.
There are over 1k people here with more than half that competing. The show room? Over 700 entries are here. It's HUGE!
A great example of not every bird is built the same. This absolute hulk of a pintail ate up a large "pintail body", dwarfing the mallard. This is an example of skin blow out, which is normal on a very clean skin as all the feather tract grids are wide open and not sealed in fat. The specimen itself was very big for a pintail, but a responsible taxidermist will not falsify the bird with a larger body, it'll make the head look smaller. Instead I take my time to work the skin down correctly on the final product.
I have a limited amount of room left for intake. Starting to move back into the shop as well but still closed off till I have a new door and arrange the work area to look professional.
