Purebeed American German Shepherd, shots are up to date.

$100 adoption fee, to help ensure, that he gets a good home.

The dog is in the Richmond, VA area, and the owner is willing to deliver the dog.

How to train the dog not to swallow stuff they shouldn't eat...


This is right up there with countersurfing, when it comes to your dog's safety, and is absolutely not allowed.

I watch as they chew, and look for the moment they think about swallowing it. i.e. right before they try to swallow it and verbally correct I use my correction AH!, followed up with Don't Eat It. This way you can preempt it, while still allowing them to get their chew on.

Then AUS/OUT! to drop it.

Then "pay the damn dog"; with accolades and a high value treat.

This worked for Hund Lindvall and recently with Jakes Lindvall .

In case you don't know, it's too F'n hot for this.

From a Shepherd barking at their cat post, where an ecollar failed them:

Most people seem to get a cheap amazon ecollar, then skipping any owner training using it, and saying they don't work.

Something else I've noticed, not one of them use a verbal correction at the same moment they correct the dog.

An ecollar is the last thing I'd use on a barking Shepherd, though, because I don't want a bark reluctant dog.
A verbal correction has always worked for me, and I train the dog to bark on command, and give accolades whenever the dog barks for a reason.
I only correct the dog, verbally, when they bark at other animals, because I don't need to know when a cat or squirrel is on my property.
Only promoting barking when somebody walks by, or when I say so.
