Black Pug Crew Hello. We are Ref & Serina. 2 black pugs from Sydney, Australia. Follow our life as we live it the best way we can.

We love to snuggle with mum, go to pug meets, help mum with her blog and pug shop, go on adventures and eat super healthy.

5 years ago my world changed when Serina came into it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into adopting a rescue pug but it has been the most incredible ride.

Serina came to me as this very scared little girl. No one could touch her. She hid in my bedroom for the first week and would only come out for food and the toilet. I’d sneeze and she would take off.

Her first night I had her in a bed on the floor next to my bed. She woke every hour barking. The second night she was doing the same so I took a chance, picked her up and put her on the bed with Ref & I. She then slept the rest of the night without waking & barking. She knew pretty quick that she could trust me.

Every day since then, she has grown to trust and love, not just me but any human she meets. She is the most loyal dog I’ll ever have the pleasure of owning.

She has been through so much the past 2 years with her health but every single thing thrown at her she takes in her stride. She is strong. She is resilient. And as long as she keeps fighting, I will keep fighting for her. I will give her everything I have cause she gives me everything she has.

Happy 5th Gotcha Day Serina! Here’s to the next 5 or more.

Happy 11th birthday to the most amazing little boy ever!

Ref has brought so much joy and love to my life. He is the most sweet and caring boy. He has such patience and tolerance for Serina especially when she needs extra care.

His favourite food is capsicum. He loves going for exploring walks when I have the energy to do so. He loves a good sleep in and I’ve often had to get him out of bed for breakfast. He loves sitting on the blanket in cooler weather so much so that he sits there and gently scratches at the blanket for you to lift the blanket for him. He is very protective of his home and will chase away the birds & cats that enter his yard. His favourite time of the day is cuddle time. And he loves going on holidays and day trips to new places or his favourite places.

Happy National Rescue Dog Day!

There’s something very special about rescuing a dog especially when it’s one that has not had a good start to life. It takes someone special to care for and show love to a rescue. It takes a lot of patience to help them feel safe and grow into who they were meant to be. It takes a lot of time but it is worth every single minute spent doing whatever it takes to make them feel loved, safe and happy.

A big thank you to all those that selflessly run rescue groups to save these precious lives. To those vets & vet nurses who put time in to helping those rescue groups with medical care. To those who adopt and love a rescue. To those who donate and advocate for rescues. To the people who volunteer their time however they can whether it be fostering, photographing or helping with fundraising. Every single one of you is bloody awesome. Without all of you, I wouldn’t have my perfect rescue girl Serina!
