It’s been really hot recently. The bag isn’t as soft as it usually would be, but that’s OK. I’m actually laying on Nana’s icy cold beers she just bought. My mommy raised a smart kitty!

It is with deep sadness that I must tell you that my big sister, Miss Jackie , crossed the rainbow bridge this afternoon. 🌈 She was able to enjoy two more Thanksgivings and Christmases than doctors predicted. She will be greatly missed.

Would you believe that Miss Jackie just had her annual spring grooming? FIve months ago she was near death, and now she’s enjoying life as a 16-year old senior kitty.

My sister Jackie is amazing. She’s bounced back and is enjoying whatever time she has left. She’s doing what Mommy calls “Jackie things”, and begging treats whenever she can. She’s still a little weak and her weight loss shows, but she’s in great spirits. We all think that she wants to have another Christmas.

Who would have believed that one week later Miss Jackie would still be with us and be fighting the others for treats? Her appetite is much better, and she’s taking fewer medications for nausea and pain. she’s not as weak as she was, and her spirits are great. She’s even started to bathe herself a little bit!

Update on Miss Jackie: she had a good Thanksgiving. She got to see Gramma and Pop Pop and get lots of pets. And when mommy had to work this thing called “ Black Friday”, Nana stayed with us and hand-fed Miss Jackie leftover turkey. She’s tired today, but still in pretty good spirits.

Mommy here: Jackie is doing remarkably well. She’s eating and drinking, but is of course still losing weight. She gets a little frustrated when she can’t do things she used to do, like jump up on the edge of the bathtub. But she still cuddles, purrs up a storm and asks for treats. It’s a day by day situation. Honestly, she’s already surpassed the initial prognosis. As long as she is happy and comfortable…

Miss Jackie had a good day yesterday. She ate quite a bit, including some of Mommy’s salmon, and had long drinks at her fountain. Nana showed up with a stuffed animal for her, and she really likes it. We’re hoping for another good day today as well celebrate Thanksgiving. Mommy promised we can all try turkey.

Miss Jackie followed Mommy all over the house last night, even down stairs. She didn’t have the energy to climb all the way up again, so Mommy carried her up. Then they napped together for an hour. And she slept on Mommy’s bed last night.

Today has been a bit rough. Miss Jackie did drink quite a bit of water, and even went to her fountain a couple of times. But she didn’t eat much today, although she did sniff everything she was offered. And she still has a ready purr any time she gets pets. Mommy says she only has a few days before she goes to the rainbow bridge. We’re treasuring every minute we have left with her.

Miss Jackie came home from the hospital this morning! The first thing she did was beg for Tempations treats. She ate quite a few, visited the litter box, and then jumped up on Mommy’s bed for a nap with her friend Penguin.

Mommy here: Jackie has quite a few medications to keep her comfortable for as long as she has left. Unfortunately, her congenital heart murmur has become much worse, so there are several medications that are contraindicated. Please know that her doctors and I have discussed all possibilities and are acting in Jackie’s best interests.

Update on Miss Jackie: she ate a little tuna on her own today! Mommy had a visit with her at the hospital and says that Miss Jackie was showing a little attitude and curiosity about her surroundings which is an improvement. Hopefully she keeps eating and improving so she can come home for whatever time she has left.

Sad news today. My big sister Miss Jackie wasn’t feeling well so Mommy took her to the vet. They discovered that Miss Jackie has an advanced and aggressive cancer. She’s staying at the hospital for a day or two while they try and stabilize her enough to come home until it’s time for her to go to the rainbow bridge.

Here are our two lady ferals that basically live on our porch now. The tiger is Mikey, and the smudge nose is Nikki. They have found a way to share one tepee bed between the two of them. Mommy still hopes to turn them into pampered house kitties one day.
