Our Gracie and Lola have been highlighted by the RSPCA (England & Wales) around the problems rescues are facing with trying to fix the multitude of issues flat faced breeds are currently going through.

Please do all you can to educate yourselves and improve the future lives of any flat faced breed you are around.

Brachycephalic Breathing Awareness is a great starting point group to join to see a few areas in what to expect.

Thank you 🐾

Three-year-old Gracie and Lola were taken in by RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch when their owner could no longer take care of them, particularly due to their complex medical needs 😞

Sadly, their daily quality of life is seriously compromised due to the way they’ve been bred, and they needed significant veterinary treatment due to their exaggerated features.

Lola has had brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome surgery (BOAS) to remove excess flesh from inside her throat and nose, as well as double entropion surgery to remove the parts of the eyelid which turned inwards and rubbed her eye.

These surgeries are incredibly expensive and charities continue to pick up the pieces of poor breeding practices.

Would you know the real cost of owning a flat-faced breed? Take our quiz to discover the health challenges they face: https://bit.ly/3Z4oDyW

** APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED WHILE WE REVIEW THE HIGH NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS **

Meet our trio of French Bulldog puppies - Alvin, Simon and Theodore ❤️💙💚

They are currently 6 weeks old and they will be ready to be individually rehomed in the new year.

Alvin is the biggest out of the three boys and he loves a cuddle and spending time with his foster family. He adores attention and can be a little shy with new experiences and seeks human reassurance.

Simon is a happy go lucky boy who loves playtime and also having a fuss and snuggle. He likes to explore but also is a chilled out pup.

Theodore may be the smallest of the litter but he is the most playful and lively. He loves having lots of fun and exploring and then settles down for a cuddle.

They will have had their first vaccination and microchipped prior to rehoming but will need to come back to our vets for their second vaccinations.

The boys will need to be neutered around 12 months of age. This will be covered by the branch at one of the vets that we use.

Being a brachycephalic breed, new adopters need to be aware that the puppies may be candidates for BOAS so need to be in a financial position for potential future medical costs.

The puppies are able to live with children over the age of 5 years. They can be in homes with another dog as long as they are neutered and vaccinated and could live with a dog savvy cat.

If you feel that you could offer a home then please complete our Online Dog Application Form - https://goo.gl/forms/jkb33FP4runD4uEX2

**Please note, we are anticipating a high volume of applications so we will be unable to contact each applicant****

Our lovable Homer had another successful trip to the vets today 💙

His skin is improving so well and he has started on pain medication to help with potential arthritic changes. Homer has been confirmed to be blind but he has adapted to losing his sight. He is a cuddly boy who is full of personality and love and adores companionship.

Homer will soon be looking for a special forever family to call his own 🏡

What a day!

Huge thanks to go out today :

Tracy - for organising the fundraising dog walk this morning

Sheila - for taking us all around the woodland

Sarah - for organising a whole doggy Christmas party with handmade Christmas doggy treats, human buffet, raffle and music!

Our bloody hard working volunteers - Kirsty, Chloe and Aaron - we couldn't do it without them!

Guests gifting unexpected present hampers to take back for the animals 🥹

Offers of fostering

Interest in adopting

Lots of fundraising of nearly £400 in total today

What we do it for?

Raising vital awareness of our self funded charity and how we help local rescue animals that need us.

Just yesterday we took an emergency call for a 15 year old blind, matted toy poodle that didn't have anywhere to go, and now that little one is safe in our care knowing whatever time he has left will be spent loved and cared for - what we do it all, for them 🐾

The real meaning of Christmas spirit!

Thank you everyone!

See you at 10.15am this morning 🐕🐾🚶🏼‍♂️ fans

This Sunday, 10.15am at Pitsford Quarry - join us for a group dog walk for our Lola!

T's Coffee Pitsford are very kindly putting on a fundraising dog walk to help our self funded branch cover the huge costs we have built getting our sweet rescue bulldog Lola well enough to find her forever home:

https://bit.ly/3OtLAH7

Lola will be joining us for the short walk so you can meet her.

From their event :

https://facebook.com/events/s/walk-for-lola/892374913027690/

"Group walk for Lola.....

Our lovely friend and regular at T's Coffee is Sheila Smith of Take My Lead Northants, she knows our woodland well and will lead a group walk looping back and around, making this an ideal route not only for those who can only walk a short distance but for those looking for a longer route too.

All we are asking for is a minimum £2 donation per person which will all go to help fund Lola's surgery and recovery.

Walk will start from T's Coffee hut at 10.30am prompt. Please be there by 10.15am latest in order for Sheila & Tracey to collect your donation, cash please. We will count up and let you know how much was raised before you leave.

The walk will be finished by 12pm, but as already mentioned this will also be ideal for those looking for a shorter route too of around 20 - 30 minutes.

Parking is free for up to apx 100 cars.

Toilet facilities.

Coffee hut open from 9am til 1pm selling hot drinks, cakes and bacon rolls.

We have a mud daddy so you can wash your dogs down before getting back in the car.

Please dress accordingly.

Please can dogs be kept on leads and be comfortable being close to other dogs.

DIRECTIONS:
Ignore the Sat Nav, it will lie to you and take you someone's house in Pitsford village! And we aren't based at Pitsford reservoir, although it is just a 30 minute walk away.
Instead use what3words and find the entrance .pocketpark
The entrance is the old Pitsford Quarry, just past Hassett fencing on the opposite side of the road. (Harborough Road).

Please arrive early if you wish to enjoy a coffee on route too ☕

Thank you!
