Renata 😍 this brave gal took her 2nd real ride so well. We were out in a small field instead of the round pen and she offered up some trot/pace/gait. One day she will develop the correct muscling to keep a gait but for now she’s confused. She stayed very calm and relaxed with everything I asked of her. Someone with a training mindset will love bringing this cool mare along! Contact Kentucky Humane Society Equine CARE for more info about adoptions!
Everyone loves cold watermelon on a hot day!
Some people get upset when their horses have to endure loud and possibly upsetting noises or situations. We are quite the opposite. It’s important that your horse has the mental maturity to be able to handle such situations with ease and class. Demario got to experience some desensitizing loud noises this week when Matt and Brad came to put in our feed room door. The existing hole was a bit small so they had to cut the opening bigger for the door to fit. Demario handled it with ease and I am very happy to have all 3 interior room doors installed!
Clippity clip clip. Fuego gets a hair cut
Can’t wait see what this show season holds for Emma Brown and Soldier! 🤩
Watch Bellini get hosed off for the 1st time AND receive her 1st bubble bath. What a rock star! This formerly feral mare has a big heart and kind soul. Kentucky Humane Society Equine CARE
Bellini has been learning lots about what it means to be a domesticated horse. She is still a bit nervous about touching her legs to pick them up and she’s very sensitive about her underbelly being touched. But there is lots of progress in other areas so we’ll settle for that for the time being. We love seeing each horse grow and thrive and go on to be successful partners for adopters ♥️ Kentucky Humane Society Equine CARE
Remington finally found a friend that’s just as bratty as he is
And we are off! We are setting out to Life is a Ride to be their clinicians for the weekend. Life is a Ride is a benefit trail ride for Hooves of Hope Equestrian Center. They specialize in therapeutic riding and are a huge blessing to the community! Can’t wait to see everyone there!
A full day of lessons and training sessions. Thankful for this life!
Gem 🤩 Gem is a mustang mare that had a history of bolting when being led and was terrified of water when she first showed up. After learning the ground work basics she has learned to trust her handler. This short clip shows her process through her “scary” first bath yesterday. Watch as she eye changes from nervous fear to soft trust and patience. So proud of how far this cute gal has come! Wish I had more “before footage” so you could really see her transformation!
Margo’s first day with a saddle and also first time on long lines. Such a good girl! She took it all calmly and professionally
From wild, fearful, and untouchable to relaxed and trusting. Margo has taught us patience while we have convinced her that people are okay to be around. But in time she has turned around into a quiet, easy going little lady. She’ll still have some moments here and there but that’s to be expected from one that has roamed free most of her life. After all, it’s hard for us to break our old habits too.
Margo is starting to let her guard down 🥰
Avamir
Little Miss Avamir took Paige for a stroll around the arena last night. First independent ride in the arena and she was such a good girl. First rides are all about releasing at the right moment and staying positive and light. Can’t believe this is the same terrified, backwards running little pony that first showed up!
Diamonds first backing
Diamond has had a lot of firsts this week. Today she was fully backed for the first time! She has been bellied a bunch lately and been flopped all over bareback. It has tremendously helped build her confidence and trust in humans. Today she didn’t flinch at all when I put my leg over her. So proud of her progress lately and how much she’s finally let her guard down and allowed herself to trust humans!
