This is such a sweet video of Avery & mommy’s “pep talk” the night before her surgery 🥹. Avery’s always been an intense gazer, listening intently to every word mommy speaks ❤️🐶🐾. She’s such sweet, sweet girl!
Storytime from mommy’s perspective:

On our ride back from our goodbyes with Bailey, the sudden nature of it all left us feeling stunned… and it felt as if Bailey’s energy was in the car with us, unsure of what may have transpired. Few days later, Dillon started limping… the same exact leg and the same exact way Bailey used to towards the end of his life. Dillon was otherwise behaving normally, and it really perplexed us. Deep down our hearts knew, but we still wanted to rule out any medical issues so we scheduled an appointment for the following week to get him examined.
On the day of the appointment, the doctor called us really confused. She said Dillon’s been strutting around the office, smiling and walking normally enjoying the attention 😒! I explained what’s been going on, and so we decided to do an X-ray and one other test just to make sure there wasn’t any injuries that might be masked by his excitement and adrenaline. And guess what? His leg was perfectly healthy and normal!
I asked the doctor… don’t you think it’s really odd that it’s the same leg and limp as Bailey, and he’s only doing that at home? We exchanged an unspoken acknowledgment of the situation and I broke down crying…
As soon as his little paws landed at home, the limping started again, as captured on the video and my text to the doctor’s office as proof 🫢.
In my heart I just knew this was Bailey’s way, through Dillon, letting us know he was still around. The fact that we didn’t get to prepare our hearts to say goodbye before we suddenly had to… 14 amazing years of love and the strong bond we shared… he wasn’t ready to go yet.
That night I hugged Dillon and spoke to Bailey. Acknowledging the possibility of him listening, explaining why we had to suddenly say goodbye so he could understand what happened and why. And that it was ok for him to stay as long as he wanted to until he was ready. That Angel Cane and Grandpa would be ther
