Howdy Friends! More from my book, FROM THE BANKS OF LITTLE BEAR CREEK.
"Buck rolled his hat around in his hands, running the brim between his thumb and fingers in his usual fashion when pondering a situation. Tom used the quiet moment to size up Smokey. He figured he was probably in his early forties and wore clothes at least one size too big, making his long lanky frame look spindly and weak. Tom noticed his hands were the hands of a hard-working man; long fingers dark tanned, and calloused where they should be. Beneath his gray felt hat that looked to be as old as the man was a weather-beaten leathery face with uninteresting brown eyes."
