🎄 Thinking about getting goldfish for the kids this Christmas? 🎁
Before you decide, here’s why tropical fish might be the better choice — and why a little research goes a long way when it comes to caring for fish responsibly. 🧐
🦈 You could keep a shark! (Well… a Red-tailed Black Shark! Not really a shark, but the kids like to think so!) They’re peaceful and live happily with barbs, danios, rainbowfish, and tetras.
🌈 More colour and variety — tropical fish come in many species that can live together, creating a lively, colourful aquarium.
🏠 Small and manageable — unlike goldfish, which grow quite large and need bigger tanks over time.
💧 More fish, same space — you can safely keep several small tropical fish in the same tank size that would only suit a couple of goldfish.
🐟 A greater range of behaviour to watch - from colourful guppies cruising at the surface to busy catfish cleaning the gravel. What about an upside-down catfish, or a glassfish - that you can see right through?
✨ A tropical aquarium is a fun, educational way for children to learn about caring for pets — but it’s always important to research the responsibility involved to make sure it’s the right choice for your family.
