This is the best part of the way we raise chickens! Every morning they move to a new spot. They are off of the poop from yesterday and on to new grass. I love watching them run up to the new grass and grab bites of the freshest, tallest pieces!
New Chicken fence
We upgraded our egg operation this year! We've always had pastured chickens but have kept them within the confines of a coop that we moved daily due to neighborhood dogs, coyotes and other predators taking chickens. Recently we found poultry fence that is electrified and very easy to move! We got the 48 inch tall and 168 foot length option from a company called Premier 1 poulty. The chickens are glad for warmer days out on grass and we are excited for them to be out "free"!
30 baby chicks went out to pasture today! They should start laying in January or February! #chickenfarmer #farmfresheggs #flippinghillfarms
It's the little things on the farm that get me excited! Re-purposed an old cement mixer into a feed mixer, thanks to my husband and father in law!
Baby chicks are here! They are such cute little balls of fluff!
Check out one of our crazy eggs we got today!
Turns out chickens like pumpkins! My mother in law discovered it! We have a farmer friend who had some on the way out pumpkins to give to the hens. Our girls love going for the seeds first and then eat the rest!
Our laying hens love interacting with us. While I was out yesterday I had many shadows. They love to be around us but most of the time I think they are hoping they will get a treat!

Our big hens enjoying the fodder!
One of the girls having an evening dust bath. I was terrified something was wrong when they were first born and did this!
