If you THINK you are failing your dog or your self in some way and you have FEELINGS that project an attitude of shame, disappointment , anger, etc. and you continue to think and feel these exact same things over and over again, you will hardwire them into your brain and emotionally condition them into your body. Those thoughts and feelings, if rehearsed enough will turn into a BELIEF. A belief that you’re not a good dog owner, that you don’t deserve your dog, or your dog is terrible and is incapable of change or even someone small like my dog isn’t smart and just doesn’t understand sit. Don’t let another day go by where you feel helpless, or frustrated about your dog’s behaviors and beat up on yourself ( or your dog) for not knowing what to do. Owning a dog is not easy or intuitive for most people so before you start believing these self targeted aggressions please reach out for help ! You are not a bad dog owner and your dog IS smart - you both just need a little guidance. Be gracious with yourself….and start generating loving, grateful, and kind thoughts and feelings. 🧡 #dogtrainingtips🐶🐶 #dogtrainingsandiego #dogsandiego #balanceddogtraining #lupak9
Soooo many behaviors can be prevented by taking action the second your dog comes in to your life. Don’t underestimate the power of training and setting you and your dog up for success day one. If you’re struggling with behaviors that seem “ tolerable” for now, don’t wait to seek help until they get worse. It will make it so much more challenging for you and your dog to navigate and back track. If you’re questioning your need for training at the very least jump on phone call with a trainer to hear how training can help support you ! We WANT to help you live your best life with your dog 🩵#dogtraining#dogtrainingtips#socaldogtraining#sandiegodogtraining#lupak9#dogs

Luffy.. what can I say about Luffy😂 He is a total vibe… kind of like Stewie from the Family Guy kind of vibe. This little guy has had a LOT of previous training and training with me and still has a long way to go but man is he making progress. Being this close to another dog without losing his mind is a massive improvement. His owner, Terry, is so dedicated to Luffy’s( and his own ) success and happiness. The road is not easy and certainly not linear but when you stick with it and enjoy the process you will start to see the light! Also shoutout to Nicole and Riley for their continued support in Terry and Luffy’s training- they are a huge help! #reactivefrenchie##lupak9#sandiegodogtraining
I want to preface this post that both of these dogs are my clients and they are VERY well behaved and are not allowed to do this to strange dogs and they don’t test that boundary with their owners. The owners are close friends and the dogs get along very well . Riley (the Aussie ) was also released to say hi to the other dog. Still a lot of back pressure and energy but the owners know each other and have complete control of their dogs! That being said if your dog pulls you say hi to other dogs or loads with excitement or nervousness and uncontrollably lunges at dogs without your permission to be released, that behavior could get you and your dog into a lot of trouble. Impulse control on a walk is crucial. Teaching your dog leash manners starts with you clarifying to your dog what leash pressure means, what position you want dog to be in throughout the walk , what a release means, how to defer to you before they make an impulsive choice when they see a dog or feel nervous, and you communicating to them that you have everything under control and you will give them information that will keep you and them safe. If you need help with leash manners reach out to a professional. I’m here to help if you need me ! 🧡
