Coda Fosterers Turkey This page has been set up to compile a list of dog fosterers in the Didim area of Turkey and to give advise where possible about the pet passport process

There is a great need for short term and long term fosterers for street dogs being adopted and taken to the uk. This is a long and expensive process. on this group you will be able to get advice from non experts but people who have been through the process and guide you in the right direction and hopefully we will be able to put you in touch with a fosterer or a doggie hotel.

We went yesterday to see the Kaymakam in Didim. The powers that be need to put it to the Turkish Goverment that there is a NEED to set a criteria for foreign volunteer groups collecting money whether it be for animals or people. A set of rules that we would strictly adhere to.
The animals in Turkey have a raw deal .. imagine how bad it will get.
THIS AFFECTS ALL GROUPS NOT JUST CoDA

Its come to a sad time in our 6 years as CoDA when we have a big big decision to make ...
As some of you maybe aware 2 weeks ago a post on fb by Fulya Köyşuren, a local solicitor giving advice about the implication of ' the illegal collection of monies, donations, by foreigners for charities '.
It also didn't help when GILLY FOREMAN who no longer lives in Turkey sticks her oar in shouting CoDA and illegal money all over facebook ... well GILLY FOREMAN you can congratulate yourself .. the animals of the Didìm municipality will now suffer because of YOU.

We have looked into all the options.
1 a regisrered charity.....
To start you need 7 turkish citizens
An office where you have receipts to prove that you pay rent
An annual turnover of atleast 250,000tl
Each year the number of members, being turkish, increases
And you are required to submit your accounts of which a taxable amount is deducted 😪
OR
2. We could join DiHAD and work under their umbrella BUT we can't use our name CoDA so theoretically we just merge and disappear 😪
OR
3.There is a council association made up of smaller volunteer groups which you can affiliate too.
Here We could if accepted continue fundraising BUT not using CoDA and we give all our money to the association telling them how we would like it spent.
And CoDA would disappear.😪

As a non association it is also illegal to advertise anything that we might be doing in Turkey asking for donations on facebook, in newspapers in fact in or on any social media.

We cannot produce our calendars with our name and logo.

We in Turkey cannot exist as CoDA

We can however because our paypal is UK based continue to accept these monetary gifts.

And lastly as a non association we cannot have ANY event easter christmas , boxing day etc hosted by us CoDA.
They would have to be hosted by the bar/restaurant that was used who could then give the funds raised to the street & shelter animals but not to CoDA .

It is a very sad to announce this especially on World Animal Day
But it seems there is no way around it.

We were told ' carry on regardless' BUT if somebody makes a complaint they would have no choice but to investigate.

This is a risk that we are not prepared to take

This breaks our hearts 💔

This is Buddy , he is being rescued from the shelter by Rebecca and Poppy. They fell in love with him whilst walking the dogs.
Lucky for him he has already been taken from the shelter and is staying with Rebecca and Poppy but they are due to return home to the UK next week and Buddy needs somewhere to stay.
He is house trained.
You will have no outlay
Just the company of a very friendly little boy with lots of love to give in return.
Initially he needs about 6 weeks to cover him until he can go into boarding, but if you decided to foster him until hes ready it will be about 5 months.
You could be the one who helps start another happy ending.
Thankyou

I am H4..@ the shelter in Didim, Turkey
A terrier type doggie
Just waitng for that kind person to give me the chance, to help me make that first step out of the shelter.
It can be as short as a month to see me through the vaccination period, mix and kennel cough, so that I can go to the pet otel or as long as 5 months while I prepare to travel to the UK to my 4ever home.
My rescuers will pay all my expenses, all you need do is keep me safe, teach me a few home rules and maybe a little bit of english.
I am patiently waiting
Thankyou🐾

" Fostering is a wonderful way to enjoy the company and benefits of a dog without the long-term commitment, AND any vet bills etc are taken care of!!
And in doing so you give the dog the chance of a better life off the streets.
Not all ownerless dogs want permanent homes we know that, but the majority of our rescues or those that we help have been owned dogs, either abandoned to the street or the shelter.
Either way their future is fated spay, nueter and released to a place they dont know, with other dogs who dont want them moving in on THEIR patch. Not knowing where their next meal, if any is coming from, or more importantly this time of year, where to find a drink.
Fostering usually lasts anything from 4 weeks to 4 months but their new 4everhome last a lifetime.

If you think you can help please comment below, message us at CoDA or call 0536 247 3612.
Thankyou

This is Cherry. She was first found by Karen Graham and her family in May. They returned home worried but nothing they could do. and on their return to Turkey found her in a worse state.
She has been to the vets, shes has had skin scraps and blood tests. Results mange and a slight infection. She is to have blood tests again in 2 weeks.
Karen and her family have decided to take cherry back to Scotland and she will be looked after in Tüylü Dostlar Pet Otel but because of her mange she needs a month atleast to recover.
ATM she is living in some unfinished villas near to Karen's apartment but they are due to be finished, with closed doors, in a couple of days and Karen is due to return home.
Is their anyone who can open up their hearts for a short time to help give this girl the chance of a loving 4ever home off the streets.
If you can help please contact asap. Please.
The family will be eternally grateful.

Update on Jemima.
She now has a lovely 4ever home to go too in the UK.
She has finished her puppy vaccinations so can now go for a walk.
She will shortly be going to furry Friends/pet otel
But we are hoping that she will be given the opportunity to sample home and family life before going on her big journey.
She will be ready to travel after 19 September but just missed the bus, so will have to wait until October
If you can offer jemima a foster. Please msg the page
Thankyou

URGENT LONGTERM FOSTER NEEDED .... This is Jemima, shes about 4/ 6 mths old.so far her life has been in a cage at the shelter, and a room at Tüylü Dostlar / Furry Friends . She knows nothing else. Yesterday we took her outside for the first time.... she was very scared ....
She isnt ill she has slightly malformed legs problem, probably due to malnutrition. She has been on a cocktail of vitamins and supplements and her legs are slowly slowly straightening and strengthening all the time. Without the need of an operation or bandages.
She just needs some tlc to prepare her for the outside world.
Jemima will never make a street dog.
We have 4 days before she has to leave the clinic and return to the shelter.

Down to the last three. The biggies. Always more difficult to find fosters for . Paşa is still a baby he likes a fuss.. Elsa is older and calmer, she doesn't like being in the shelter, she cries. Percy is full of energy and just wants his dinner lol, like all men the way to his heart is through his stomach lol.
To put them in boarding is 1000tl per month each.
Message the page if you can help 🥰
Thankyou.

This is Elsa.
She is such a lucky girlie.
If joe hadn't found Elsa and brought her in to the shelter its doubtful she would be with us now. Luckily we were there. She was immediately sent for tests.
Now after months of treatment and care she is cured.
Elsa is such a lovely, placid calm girlie..
She is going to the UK to a fantastic 4ever home with Percy and Elizabeth their new mum.
It would be so fantastic if we could find her a foster home.
If you can foster it would be amazing
Obviously we cant guarantee how house trained or not she is .. as shes been a street dog,, but if you could help we would all be eternally grateful

We popped into the shelter today.
Spoke about this little doggy, turns out she was born like it, poor little love.
Aynur is bringing her into the shelter on Wednesday for us to meet her..
She can walk but we wont know just how disabled she is until we see her.
She is going to be re-assessed in 3 months time.
This is where that extra special person says that they will foster her, at no expense to them but time, love and tlc.
If you think you could be that person, msg and we'll arrange to meet her

Here is Chips.
He was doing so well when today his fosterer fell and broke her ankle.
He is good in the night. He doesn't make a mess. He has been fed twice a day morning and evening. He goes out morning, afternoon and evening. He barks when he needs to go out. He is still quite active. Although now it is hot he likes to be in during the day and is playful in the evening. if anyone can take him until 28 june please
