In the spirit of Veterinary Appreciation Day, we would like to give a shout out to our 3 wonderful veterinarians. It takes a village, but we couldn't do any of it without them! To our doctors, Dr. Venessa Graydon, Dr. Julia Joshi and the newest member of our veterinary team, Dr. Courtney Funk, thank you for everything you do! From caring for your patients both big and small, to doing your best at solving the mystery behind a patient’s pain when they can’t verbally tell you what’s ailing them, and for all the other behind-the-scenes work that you all do! Join us in saying thank you to these amazing veterinarians! #VeterinaryAppreciationDay #AmazingVeterinarians #ThankAVeterinarian
Happy Friday everyone! We thought we could start off your weekend with some cute faces! We love to get photos of your furry friends when they come to visit and we hope to share them more often. We always ask consent on our forms or in person before we share any photos! #FurryFriends#furryfriendfriday #cutepets #weloveyourpets #HappyFriday
🐾 We love to get cute photos of your pets! 📸When your pets come in for surgeries or treatments you may have noticed a section you can sign off for social media. This gives us the opportunity to share their cute faces and sometimes provide educational content. Which may simply include how we provide treatments, prep them for surgeries or sharing our team sneaking in some snuggles! If you want a chance to see your pets featured on our social media make sure to select “YES” to sharing on social media! We will always respect your decision if you choose not to share.
The ticks are still out in full force! Did you know that it only takes about 24 hours for tick to transmit diseases once it’s latched? By the time the tick is fully engorged it has likely been feeding for more than 36 hours. With most prescription tick preventatives when the tick bites it dies within a few hours before it’s able to spread any diseases and will usually just fall off of your pet. Which in most cases is way more convenient. Ask your veterinary team which preventative medication is right for your pet! #TickPrevention #TicksAreGross #LymeDisease
More than 10,000 pets go missing each year! 75% of pets never make it home. One thing we can do as pet owners is to make sure that our pet has all the appropriate identification to help them get home, such as having a collar with name tag/phone number, license tag, ear tattoo (if they have been spayed/neutered) and having a microchip placed. A microchip is not a tracking device but it increases the chances of being reunited with your lost pet. ‼️Starting August 1st any pet entering the USA will require a microchip. This is required by the CDC‼️See the video for more details. #microchippingmonth #reunitinglostpets #petidentification #askyourvetaboutmicrochips
Happy World Spay Day!
Today, we'd like to draw attention to the importance of spaying and neutering pets.
Did you know that there are many health reasons other than preventing unwanted litters attributed to spaying and neutering?

*Sound on*
Remember when we shared what ear mites look like under the microscope? Well, this is what an infestation can look like to the naked eye!
*Reminder in case you missed the other post*
Ear mites are a parasite commonly found in outdoor cats. They are VERY ITCHY. Treatment is very simple, but is a prescription medication.
Please note, it may not always be this evident, so don't always rely on visual proof. If your cat is showing symptoms, (scratching, head shaking) we can check their ears with either an otoscope or look at a slide under the microscope!
Have you ever had to deal with lice or fleas?
Can you imagine those creepy crawlies in your ears?
Otodectes cynotis, or more commonly known as ear mites, are a parasite usually seen in outdoor cats, but can be rarely found in dogs who hang around with infected cats. Ear mites are VERY ITCHY. Signs of an ear mite infestation can include ear scratching, head shaking, and are often accompanied by debris resembling coffee grounds. Treatment is very simple, but is a prescription medication so if you suspect your pet is dealing with these unwelcomed guests, give us a call to book an appointment.
A monthly reminder to give your pet their next dose of their Nexgard product if you started with us April 1st!
Again, feel free to comment/send us a picture of your pet with their prevention to be featured!
Thunder here is using Nexgard Combo, which is given once a month to prevent fleas, ticks, and heartworm. It is also a dewormer and ear mite treatment all in one. It is a prescription product, so if we haven't seen your cat in the last year, give us a call to book an appointment.
⚠Reminder⚠ if you use Bravecto products, that one is given once every 12 weeks, so make sure to follow label instructions as prescribed.
Brushing your pet's teeth does not need to be a big elaborate thing. Follow these steps as a guide if you think your pet can tolerate it. Nyx here has been practicing since she was a pup, so don't worry if your pet is not there yet. If you are interested in learning how to start brushing your pet's teeth, we will be posting a video in the next couple of days with some tips. The main thing is to keep it a positive experience and to do it at a quiet time when your pet is calm.
*Always use a pet friendly toothbrush and paste available at your nearest vet, pet store, or order via our online webstore https://graydonvet.clientvantage.ca

Just a little head's up about our modified schedule in the coming weeks. We will be closed early on the 24th and the 31st, and closed for the whole day the 27 and the 3. Please ensure any medications and food refills are called in and confirmed if they will be needed at this time!
Funny question this time of year, as heart worm season comes to an end….
How many of you had your dogs on heart worm prevention from May 1 - November 1?
We diagnosed our second case of heart worm this season this past week 😢.
That squirmy blurr to the left of the pointer is a live worm found in a blood sample, confirming what our snap test indicated…. Positive for heart worm.
So I ask again, show of emojis:
🙌 if your pet was on prevention this past summer
🤔 if you need more information on heart worm (you can dm if that’s easier)
🩸 if your dog has been screened for heart worm in the past 24 months
Let’s see what we get!
Tick Season is still here!
