Afternoon shenanigans with the crew! We still have a couple pups 👀 for their forever 🏡💕 PM if interested
☔️We are very fortunate to have had a summer full of storms this season, as the puppies have had a lot of exposure. I’ve decided to wait till the kids were 10 weeks old before sending them to their homes and glad I have.
🐱In the last week the first fear period has shown itself in subtle but still noticeable ways. For example the puppies like to push the patience of our cat who normally gives them a light smack and they move on. This week the pups seem to be far more offended by his antics
⚡️With a storm coming in this afternoon as always we have made it a game and loaded them with treats and exciting activities. As you can see in the video below after that big strike of thunder a lot of them were a bit shocked but recovered so fast!
🍬We did lots of sniffing out for treats and playing and they honestly couldn’t care less.
🏡I mention this as a lot of puppies get sent to their new homes at 8 weeks of age. And as much as some can cope it can spell disastrous consequences for those that are struggling with the 8-10 week old fear period.
💪I want to send confident pups into their new homes as moving away from their siblings into a stressful completely new environment is terrifying on its own! Dylan and I aspire to expose the kids to all the crazies in order to minimise the stress of heading to their new homes.
Hope our new families are getting excited cause your babies are leaving the nest this weekend!!! 🥹🥹🥹
We still have three lovely ladies 👀 for new 🏡. Pm for details 🙂
This week we are starting to learn about crates! I think they are pretty excited about the change in their sleeping arrangements.
Personally I absolutely love crate training.
🤔🧐Why? 🤔🧐
🐾 Dogs are naturally den creatures. Crates create a safe enivorment sleep in.
🐾 ’Me time’. All dogs need their ‘me time’. Being in a new home can be overwhelming especially if there’s lots of kids wanting to play with the puppy as well as excited adults. Crate time means the pup can chose to pop themselves to bed which I class as a ‘no touchy zone’. When they need to get away for a rest they know the crate is a safe place where they can relax without being bothered.
🐾 Safety! When you step out of the house and have to leave your pup alone you can have the peace of mind that they are not going to chew on cables, or toilet throughout the house or injure themselves. 🐍 Snake season in Australia can be scary! When you pop out in the hottest points of the day you can put your baby in their crate in the aircon and avoid any nasty encounters.
🐾 Vet hospital stays or healing from injuries Your dog will be placed in a cage or crate at the vet. Getting them use to crate from an early age teaches them that it’s a place of comfort not fear. We never want our babies to get hurt but you can’t predict the future! What if they need to be on crate rest due to an injury. Teaching a fully grown Dane to accept a crate is far more work than a puppy.
🐾 Boundaries! All dogs need boundaries. Our rule in the house is if you’re inside you’re either on your bed or in a crate. This has always been our practice as it reinforces that inside is a calm space. No zoomies in the house 😅
🐾 Toilet training! Dogs don’t like sitting in their filth and therefor are less likely to soil their bedding in an adequately sized crate. Getting the puppies use to holding their wee wees at night and letting them out once in the night to toilet and again first
Puppies are 6 weeks old!!!
Hallway madness! These kids have been an absolute blast to raise and will be so sad to see them go 💔
2 bubs still available for 🏡s 🥹💕
