The omega-3 content found in salmon offers numerous advantages for your pet, and here are several reasons why!
Salmon contains high levels of EPA and DHA, two distinct types of omega-3 acids, which contribute to various cognitive and physiological benefits for dogs.
Omega-3 is highly beneficial for dogs' fur coats, as it moisturizes the skin internally, enhancing flexibility and addressing dandruff issues. Additionally, it aids in the formation of a protective barrier on the skin, which retains moisture and prevents irritants and allergens from causing itching.
Omega-3 fatty acids play a role in reducing joint pain and enhancing mobility in dogs experiencing joint problems.
That concludes our discussion for now! Incorporating some salmon into your furry companion's diet will certainly contribute to their well-being!

Natural ingredients - These are often easier to digest for pets, contain essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, contributing to their overall health and vitality, and often contain immune-boosting properties. 🌿

No preservatives - If your pup shows symptoms of gastrointestinal issues or other potential food sensitivities, your veterinarian may recommend a limited-ingredient diet. A preservative-free diet made of whole foods is an excellent way to feed your dog a healthy, nutritious, limited-ingredient diet. ❌🧪

No additives - Natural foods also eliminate "empty" calories from additives that can contribute to pet obesity. Studies have shown that harmful additives can cause health issues such as asthma, ADHD, heart difficulties, cancer, and obesity. Some food additives can also interfere with hormones and influence growth and development.

The ingredient list provides an accurate account of the ingredients in the diet from highest to lowest weight. 🍗🐶🐱

You want your pet’s food to include essential nutrients such as:
• Calcium
• Phosphorus
• Taurine (for cats), at least 30% protein
• Omega-3 & Omega 6 fatty acids,
• At least 18% fat via Vitamin E and/or C
• Vitamins and minerals.

A good rule of thumb is to look for diets that follow the 95% rule. These are foods that include at least two ingredients that are the primary components of the diet. Eg: “Chicken with Carrot” or “Chicken with Pumpkin”. 🍗🥕

Cats are obligate carnivores, which means that their diets must primarily consist of animal-based proteins to meet their nutritional needs.

CAPTION -
This unique dietary requirement reflects the importance of providing high-quality, meat-based nutrition for our feline friends.
It's important for cat parents to mimic the high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet their cat would naturally eat in the wild. Plant based nutrients such as sugars, starches and carbohydrates are not well digested by cats.

Vital amino acids include taurine, arginine and cysteine.

A sustained deficiency in taurine, for example, can lead to retinal degeneration (and consequently blindness), dilated cardiomyopathy (and likely associated heart failure) and reproductive issues (a lack of fertility, abnormal development in kittens etc.).

Without meat protein, cats would fail to obtain certain nutrients which can cause abnormalities such as reduced immune function.
Protein is also the main and primary macronutrient responsible for the maintenance of muscle mass in cats.

Diets high in protein are also naturally beneficial to cats in that they contain a higher percentage of total water and thereby increase water intake.
Cats rely on adequate active sources of vitamins A, D and B12 (amongst others) in their food, which are present in meats.

Cats consuming meat-based diets have a naturally low acidic urinary pH of about 5 to 6. Vegetables cause urine pH to become alkaline, which may allow urinary crystals and stones to form.

Lastly, if you feed meat to your cat, you don’t have to worry about them getting obese. Here’s why - feeding meat ensures they have a satisfying meal, which may prevent them from feeling excessively hungry and overeating.

So all you feline parents out there, make sure meat is a staple in your cat’s diet!

What are meat by-products? They are the ingredients left over from human food production after the meat is removed, like lungs, blood, brains, intestines, spleen, liver, and kidneys from the non-rendered, clean parts of an animal.

What must you avoid? Generic by-product meals don’t identify the source of the meat and use non-specific names like meat meal, meat and bone meal, meat by-product meal and animal by-product meal.

It can contain harmful remains which are bacteria-ridden and not heat-treated, like roadkill, dead zoo animals, dead on-arrival poultry and diseased and dying livestock.

Here’s how you can make sure your fur babies are hydrated enough! 💧

1. Try a water fountain for cats, they might prefer the moving water.

2. Room temperature water > cold water

3. Add water to the food, or supplement your pet's meal plan with canned food. Wet dog food contains around 60 to 80 percent moisture content, while kibble has only about 6 to 7 percent moisture.

4. Fresh, clean water - everyday.

5. Switch up the location of the water bowl, some pets can be particular. Also, leave several bowls in different places.

6. Try flavouring water with a small amount of tuna juice/bone broth/chicken broth.

7. Offer your dog ice cubes in moderation to encourage them.

8. Make sure you take water along when you leave the house with your dog. Try a collapsible water bowl, a travel dog water bowl, or even a food bowl.
That’s all for now! Stay hydrated, fur babies!

5 HEALTH ISSUES, a poor nutrition can lead to for you pets.

Weakened Immune System: A poorly nourished pet is more susceptible to infections and illnesses because their immune system may not function at its best.

Diabetes: High levels of carbohydrates and sugars in low-quality pet food may increase the risk of diabetes in dogs and cats.

Cognitive Decline: Inadequate nutrition may negatively impact cognitive function in older pets, potentially leading to mental decline.

Organ Dysfunction: Inadequate nutrition can put stress on vital organs like the liver and kidneys, potentially leading to organ dysfunction.

Reduced Lifespan: The cumulative effects of poor nutrition can ultimately reduce a pet's lifespan and overall quality of life.
