Our horses spend 90% of their schooling off property, in fields, trails and along our wide country roadside verges. We use markers such as trees or power poles for walk to trot - halt. Halt to trot. Walk. Rein back. Etc.
Piper has enjoyed the benefits of recent lessons broken up between the paddocks & off property.
She's also encountered the local resident cattle, dogs, sheep and even a DONKEY!

BEHIND THE SCENES.
Charleigh attended her first horse show recently - and naturally, she is hooked!
However, she learnt quickly that there is alot to do "behind the scenes" in order to have the "fun out in the ring". It was well worth it, she came home with lots of ribbons and sashes!

We decided to sort through our saddles and find one to fit chilli that was also small enough for Piper. We found the perfect fit for the pair! She said she loved it - so we got her doing alot of trotting in it - clearly a nap was required! 💙🩵

Dixie ditched the saddle recently & tried out the side saddle roller & liberty pad by Sider Rider - equi élite
These are great! You can ride aside either nearside OR offside!
This also means you can take the horns off, put a stirrup on each side and ride astride too!

MONDAY MOTIVATION:
Dealing with the "hard parts" You don't get to bypass the hard parts…..every good rider has gone through it. You make progress, then you don't, and then you make progress again. The best rewards come from the hard times you go though. Dont forget how much your horse puts in for you in both the hard parts & the good times as well!

THE IMPORTANCE OF GROUNDWORK:

You learn more about horses from the ground than you ever will from riding. If you're skipping ground lessons, you're missing out on the most important parts of the lesson. You spend far more time on the ground with horses than you do in the saddle.
