Mathew 18: 20
For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Please come say a prayer with Me.
Kidding Season is right around the corner... literally starts next week for us. We will be busy busy as all of my goats should kid within a 10 day period. First up to kid is Peaches and as most of my friends knows she is my heart. Followed closely by the others. In Doe kidding fashion I believe Kat is trying to be the first to kid. But she is due the day after Peaches.
My friends have already started their kidding season and have already experienced the joy of new life and the saddness of great loss. I'd like to just say a little prayer for my own animals. Please feel free to join me and add your own animals to my prayer if you'd like.
THE BLESSING OF FARM ANIMALS
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
In the Book of Sirach we read, “The compassion of human beings is for their neighbors, but the compassion of the Lord is for every living thing”. Remembering that is the God whose blessings we ask, let us pray:
Gracious God, we ask that you would give us will and wisdom to be good stewards as we tend these creatures before us whom you have given into our care. Make us always aware of their needs as well as our own, so that your whole creation may proclaim your praise. We ask this in the name of your son Jesus Christ our Good Shepherd.
In the story of creation, Genesis 1: 24
24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures(A) according to their kinds:(B) the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so.(C)
And God saw that it was good.
God says in Psalm 50: 9-11
9 I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, 10 for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine.
Let us pray:
Almighty God, we ask your blessing upon these livestock of your creation , Peaches, Freyja, Kat, Fortune, Pearl, Queenie, and Ostara, that they may have good health, adequate feed, plentiful pastures, and companionship of the flock/herd. Give them good stewards who will be faithful in their care, feeding them, and protecting them from danger. Bless their relationships with humankind and other living things so that, together in the web of life which you have brought into being, all creatures may fulfill your purpose. Amen.
