On May 4th 2020 in the Thurston Ave area police responded to a report that a resident, while walking his dog noticed pieces of hot dogs scattered on the lawns, upon further checking it revealed that the hot dogs contained nails. The Newport Police are currently investigating this incident and request that anyone with information contact Detective Patrick Walsh at 401-845-5775.

It's the first day of February, so time to turn the page on your 2020 Dogs of Newport calendar and say hello to Mila! Mila is a three-year-old Portuguese Water Dog with a very important job. She works in the Vanderbilt Rehabilitation Center at Newport Hospital, alongside her human, Linda Craig-Aguiar, who is a recreation therapist. Patients may be undergoing therapy at the center for all kinds of conditions, and Mila helps them in many ways. They can practice their motor skills by brushing her, or playing ball games with her. She will also perform tricks for them in exchange for treats, carrots being a particular favorite. Mila is very dedicated to her work and has a gift for knowing who needs her attention.

If you still don't have a copy of this year's calendar, it's not too late: there are just a handful of copies left at PDQ Graphics and Closet Revival, so hurry along and grab one while you can! All the money raised from the sale of these calendars will be donated to the Potter League for Animals.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Yappy Hour yesterday! I counted seven of our 2020 calendar dogs in attendance (Harvey, Elmore, Louis, Montana, George, Cash, and Toby) plus an appearance by Cheddar, Mr March 2019. We had a fabulous time and loved meeting all the good doggos... everybody was well-behaved, even the humans! (Well, there was that one little incident, but if you put delicious food out on the edge of the table, what's a poor dog supposed to do?) ;) If you have any photos from last night, please share... we'd love to see them!

Thank you also to our wonderful donors: Kerrie Philbin and O'Brien's Pub who very kindly hosted our party for the second year, and generously donated food, drink, and prizes. Thanks to 22 Bowen's Wine Bar & Grille, The Clarke Cooke House, WAG NATION, Style Newport, and Caleb & Broad, who all donated prizes. Thanks to Ryan Belmore and What's Up Newp for doing such a great job of getting the word out to the local dog-loving community. We raised a ton of money for the Potter League for Animals, and hope to raise a ton more with calendar sales in the coming weeks.

The Dogs of Newport 2020 calendar is still in production, but we're already taking photos for the 2021 calendar. The Trinity Church pumpkin patch is opening in a few days, plus there are Fall displays and lovely colorful fallen leaves all over the city, making perfect locations for those Fall months. If you have a pup who'd enjoy posing for us, please tell us about them here!
