ANNOUNCEMENT!

Straight from the horse's mouth...

Here is the big news!

We are expanding in more ways than one in 2025! We have started the process of building a "clubhouse". The clubhouse will serve as a classroom for Equine Health Academy, and an added amenity for current boarding and lesson clients. It will feature a lounge area, a mini kitchen to include a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker (the essentials). It will also include a horse book and movie library, a couple TVs, horse themed games and toys, etc. It will have a small loft and front porch, and of course, air conditioning! Can you tell who's most excited? ME!

The clubhouse will also allow the introduction of other programs such as summer camp (2025) and pony club!

Multiple horses for lease here at Flatwoods Farm.

Looking to welcome 1-2 horse experienced and committed adults to our farm family. Will consider parent-child pairs.

We are a smaller, private farm. We have a lighted arena and round pen, wash rack, access to trails and people to ride with.

Horse experienced and responsible is a must. You must have the horses best interest in mind and we will not tolerate joy riding or wreckless behavior.

Leases start at $200/mo.

This is a full day class. A light breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided. Participants will receive a formal certificate of completion, a reference manual, and a vitals "cheat sheet" card. This is the ADVANCED First Aid class, you MUST have taken the standard full day class first, and I will be verifying this!

A wilderness version of the Advanced course, this one-day, highly advanced equine emergency first aid training class is for the adventurous outdoor rider.

With a camping component, this also covers everything including trapped horses, poison, burns and bites, hypo/hyperthermia, tie ups, fractures, and sucking chest wounds.

This course prepares the student to handle the most serious injuries, where without your first response, the horse will not survive.

The class cost is $159

This is the FUNDAMENTALS First Aid class, which you could consider the "cliff notes" version of the Standard full day class. This is GREAT for those who are new to horses and need to know the basics, those who may just need a refresher, summer camp groups, parent child pairs, etc. You don't need to own a horse to take this class. The Fundamentals would be great for older kids and high schoolers, or those who want to know the basics but don't have the need or budget for the full day class. This is a half day, fast paced, hands on clinic.

We have our first Advanced class scheduled! You MUST have taken the Standard full day class to take the Advanced. I will be checking.

September will be the first time we offer the Standard and Advanced class, back to back, at a discounted rate.

Now offering CARE leases! Starting at $200/mo

I have a wait list a mile long for riding lessons, and only three horses, ages 17, 23 and 25. The reality is, they can't work more than they are already, and I should in fact be trying to reduce their work load to semi-retired. Whether being ridden or not, the cost to care for them remains. Hay and grain, veterinary and farrier, etc are among the costs of horse ownership. They still need to be groomed, bathed, and loved on. For the first time, I am gauging interest in care leases with a very light riding option.

This is perfect for beginners, especially for families who want to learn all there is about horses, or are considering ownership in the future. This is also perfect for the previously experienced horse person looking to get back into it. Any experienced horse owner will tell you, being able to ride well is just the tip of the iceberg. Horses are a learning curve that never ends.

Instead of being responsible for a portion of expenses, I will be charging a flat rate fee per month, for an agreed upon number of days per week, which will allow light riding ONE day per week. The rest of your days will allow grooming, bathing, feeding, and handling your horse. You will have full access to our facilities amenities and supplies. Riding must be lead line, or walk trot only in the arena or round pen.

All humans and animals are accounted for and safe! Some branches down and clean up needed but we never lost power and everyone is fine!

I was taking video because I was excited about our first real lesson under lights (lights still not done) and just happened to catch the mosquito control chopper flying overhead. This was their third pass. The time before I started recording it was RIGHT over our heads. Now that's a good pony!
