Dear Letter to Editor,
I'm writing to you today to ask if there are other people out there who have had to deal with severe, debilitating, life-altering anxiety revisited to them by the mandated wearing of face masks?
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 the first time, everyone was forced to wear a mask, my friend's past nightmares that she thought were buried and gone forever, resurfaced their ugly heads to haunt her and torment both her and her husband. For the past 3 and a half years, the torture she and her husband endured by the general public was horrific for them. She was unable to go into many public places because she could not wear a mask. She was cursed at, and thrown out of some public places because she did not have a mask. She was treated like a L***r. It was a daily struggle for her every day that we had to endure Covid outbreaks and deaths, and by the grace of God and a few close friends, she and her husband made it through. When the mask mandated lifted, both her and her husband were overjoyed!!! But their happiness and joy was short-lived....
Last June of 2023 her husband had finally been diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Now that the mask mandate is back on in full force in all of the UPMC facilities and other places, she is unable to go with her 63 yr old husband to be his support system, his rock. Without her by his side, he has decided to refuse his upcoming treatments and biopsies and give up. They need each other for support.
I don't want to see this happen. There has to be an exception to the rule in this case. There's got to be a place she could contact to get help for this issue. He is slated to have a treatment on the 26th of this month and a biopsy on the 27th. Without some kind of help from somewhere, there are two lives in jeopardy.
She is his only support system, and she is the one being treated again like a L***r.
Please help me, help them.
Thank you all in advance.
Sincerely,
Linda "Lyndee" Romesberg
