WW offers spacious and safe boarding, specialised grooming and a comprehensive website all devoted to rabbits.
We aim to improve the lives and welfare of rabbits in NZ through education outreach.
Umbi & Espi came for a big coat strip out and were both good bunners for their grooms.
It was another lovely ElderBun groom today. Sweet old Storm came along for a relaxed loaf on the table and hopped off home a happy lad.
It was senior ladies day yesterday. Speckles kicked things off (followed by Ariel) coming along for a groom which included a hygiene trim. Older buns can often have difficulty reaching their rumps and butts and giving them a helping hand means they stay clean. Very importantly this also reduces the risk of fly strike and it just a whole lot nicer for the buns!
It was BIG groom day for geriatric bun Ariel … she coped really, really well and looks absolutely amazing. She needs another session to be completely finished but we got 80% of the way there today.
Starlight had a huge groom before going home. Being a lop + disabled, Starlight’s coat backs up because she can no longer balance well enough to groom herself effectively. She was such a good girl for me and is now all clean and fresh.
Kikorangi had a tidy up groom before heading home. Mr K has entered his spring moult which had caused fur to start backing up on his tail, along with some matting on his lower belly. This was sorted out with a good old coat strip out and a wee little hygiene trim.
Mr Buns came along for a groom and had a little snooze on the grooming table. 🤭
Khloe and Kenny visited for their grooms. Kenny had sure put some extra effort into his butt fluff!
Welcome back Ruru & Fauny!
Welcome back Kikorangi!
Terrific news!
Winter had a huge groom before he and Denise went home. That pile of fur is solid, not fluffed up … I could have stripped out as much again but Mr Winter had other ideas, so we reached a compromise that we were both happy with. Sorry to send you home with a nakey tail though Dude :P
I am so relieved that this has been addressed. Hopefully the video will re removed form FB. You can report it to FB as Animal Abuse.
Dear, sweet Chewy Bob brought his dreadlocks along for a groom. I bet that feels better CB!
Welcome beautiful, 13 yr old ElderBun Ariel. I am honoured to be entrusted with your care!
Florence and Kennedy came for their grooms and were very patient as I tried out some new grooming gear with them.
Peanut graced the grooming table with his presence for a big groom prior to hopping off home. Although he is somewhat inclined to be a bit of a Diva, he was a super good boy for his groom. In the photos you can see some of the typical issues that lops frequently present with on the grooming table - backed up/matted tails, groins and feet. This is more likely to become an issue when a bun is in a heavy moult as Peanut was, but are now all a thing of the past for him!
Womble came along for his groom and had fun having a good ole ‘towel dig’ after he was finished!
Wildies Peanut & Popcorn visited for a claw trim. They are such wee sweeties … albeit a trifle flighty hehe.
Thumpa came for his groom. He is currently moulting and had quite a lot more stealth matting than he usually does. However, it’s all gone now and Thumpa tootled off home to have an ‘I’m free of my fur’ binky fest!
Newly adopted Mr Coconut came for a meet’n’greet which included a complimentary claw and hygiene trim. Isn’t he an absolute little darling!
ElderBun Apple came for a really big grooming session. This was her first ever groom and she had some significant matting that needed to be removed. Apple didn’t look ‘pretty’ when she hopped off home with a baldy butt but she sure was a lot more comfortable.
Simsi & Suzy are here for a short stay. This is actually the first leg of a big journey to their new life in Aussie!
Darling ElderBun Speckles came for big groom. Sorry sweetheart, I forgot your before photo.
Peanut has arrived for his first stay with WW.
You can see him settling in via this link to WW’s YT post.

Over the past couple of years, there seems to have become more and more nastiness thrown around. We are all in this together. All trying our best. Putting others down behind their back is no way to create change.
We recently did take in 6 Flemish giants males who were all in extremely poor condition, one was taken to the afterhours vet after we picked them up that evening and euthanised; as he had open wounds on the bottom of both his back feet with maggots crawling around and in, he had been suffering for so long that his foot was deformed from him trying not to put pressure on the pain. His mates also come in very skinny and covered in urine scald. These buns are not out of the woods yet at all. We have not posted about them as we are trying to lessen the amount of rabbits in the rescue so we can focus on guinea pigs.
We have had unkind comments about us adding in pleas for donations on the bottom of most recent posts, and us mentioning that we have animals to adopt in our posts. We're not going to stop that, as we are a rescue, we are a registered charity and we do rely on donations and the public's support.
We don't share all that we see and do on a daily basis, and how it takes a toll on our own mental health. So, on that note. Please be kind, it costs nothing. If you feel someone could do things differently, instead of being nasty behind their backs to others, talk to them - but don't be horrible about it.
We currently have 97 animals in the rescue, and there is a huge cost to care for them (time, space, money and emotions!). So please check out ways you can help us https://www.aucklandcavycare.org.nz/ways-you-can-help/
You can do a direct deposit into Auckland Cavy Care rescue's bank account:
#38-9014-0787909-00 . All donations of $5 and over directly put into the rescue's bank account are tax deductible as we are a registered charity. We’ll send you a receipt so that you can get 1/3 of your donation refunded back to you at the end of the tax year. Please provide us your email address to allow this to happen.
Mr & Mrs Scrumdiddley Scrumptious aka Reggie & Gracie came to see me for their grooms. I just love these two BIG BOOFAS. As with many of my client buns, we keep a track of their weight with a weigh-in at each groom. It looks like Reggie has finally stopped growing … topping out at just a sniff over 4kg to almost match Gracie! He has certainly chonked up and is a lovely solid lad now. Gracie has really gone from strength to strength with her grooms and calmly loafed on the grooming table today, snuggled up with her Reggie. She’s such a clever girl.
Sheldon has moved into Cabuna 1 so he has lots of space whilst he waits for a new home. Check out this video of him exploring his new space on WW’s YT channel
