This Giving Tuesday, Be a Lifeline for Animals in Need

Starting today, you have the power to save lives and give hope to animals in our community. The Humane Society of the Sierra Foothills is dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals and providing second chances to those who need it most.

With your support, we can:
• Rescue animals from abuse, neglect, and abandonment.
• Provide essential medical care, shelter and rehabilitation.
• Advocate for stronger protections against animal cruelty.
• Find loving forever homes for victims of animal cruelty.

Every dollar you give goes directly toward protecting and caring for animals who have no one else to turn to. Your generosity creates brighter futures and happier endings for countless animals in our community like "Buddy" who is just one of so many, that our visit last week helped his owners recognize the pain and suffering he was enduring.

Will you join us this Giving Tuesday and make a difference for more animals like "Buddy"?

Visit https://animalplace.com/help-out/donate/ to give today and be the hero these animals need. Together, we can build a kinder, safer world for them.

Thank you for your compassion and commitment. Your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Featured story this week from Placer County. Something we all need to be aware of. 🦟

West Nile virus: Horses, humans and who’s at risk

It’s West Nile virus season in Placer County. The virus is transmitted by mosquitoes and can make people, horses and birds sick — and even cause death. West Nile virus is most active in west Placer agricultural areas and adjacent communities.

Last week, the first horse to test positive in the state this year was detected here in Placer. If you have a horse, be sure to talk to your vet about vaccinating your horse against West Nile virus.

Unlike horses, there is not currently a West Nile virus vaccine available for humans. Protect yourself by using repellent with EPA-registered ingredients, and remember to drain standing water that can produce mosquitoes.

Big Day of Giving is Thursday! To get a glimpse of the positive impact we have within our community, read our story about Clara and Star: https://animalplace.com/rescue-stories/greytful-greyhounds/ . These ‘Greytful Greyhounds’ were saved initially by a good neighbor reporting animal abuse to the police. They referred the case to us and our job was twofold: to rehabilitate these sweet houndies and to refer the case to the D.A. for prosecution. We’re happy to say, both were accomplished!

With heartfelt gratitude for your support, Big Day of Giving donations can be made at https://www.bigdayofgiving.org/ !
