Rather than chase tradition and make an assortment of flavored cakes, we decided to make ONE mix. By setting the rules aside, we are able to keep our cake mix free of artificial flavors, dyes and preservatives. This means that you and your family get to enjoy a cake with your dog without all of that "stuff" in it. Our mix is scrumptious as-is or it can be flavored with delicious
fresh ingredients like pumpkin and apples. The flexibility makes it so easy for families who have picky eaters, sensitive stomachs or just never know what mood they may be in when they rip open the bag to celebrate. The possibilities are endless and exciting to discover! Here at HAPPY ARFDAY, we are artisans. We turn out our mix in small batches. Each bag of cake mix is measured by hand, mixed and sealed to ensure your family gets the freshest product possible. Our bags are reusable, 100% recyclable and arrive in beautiful condition. Heck, we even throw in a free hat and some noise makers! Hey, we told you … this is a revolution!

In college, I worked at an animal hospital. I was the smile that greeted folks as they walked in the door. I also held squirmy pets and reassured their owners. It was one of my favorite jobs-ever! At times, there was the pup that got into “the goody bag” and required medical attention for something they ate.
So when our kids wanted to bake a cake for our pup Ebby I knew there was no way I could bake her regular boxed cake or even the traditional cakes I bake for our birthday parties. As an avid baker, I worked on a dog cake recipe that was low in sugar and mixed it with super high-quality ingredients. Best of all, I made the cake tasty enough for our whole family enjoy together. We all had a blast singing to Ebby and eating dessert with her.
Initially, I was going to keep the recipe in my cookbook and bring it out for just Ebby’s birthday. One day, as we were walking home from school, the kids and I were chatting and they thought that other families would like to share a cake with their dogs too. So on that day, in sunny California...HAPPY ARFDAY was born!
