At Itanagar Zoo, two new Tiger inmates (Male - Rocky; Female - Sahini) brought from Nandankanan Zoological Park, Odisha, (on 17th July 2023) have been released to Tiger enclosures this morning (after completion of their quarantine period) in the presence of Shri A.K Biswal, PCCF (incharge Chief Wildlife Warden) and other senior officers of the department.

There are 4 genera of gibbons. Genera is the category of taxonomy ranked above species and below family. The four genera for gibbons are: Hylobates, Hoolock, Nomascus, and Symphalangus (Siamang). ✨

Molecular data from all genera shows that the four groups are as different from one another as chimpanzees and humans. 🌱

Today , the Itanagar Zoo has bid a tearful farewell to Shri Sushil Kr Saikia, Stockman on being transfer back to his parent Department. He dedicated his sincere and hardwork duty for more than 16 years in the zoo for the cause of wildlife conservation of the state. He discharged his duty even on last day in the zoo. The zoo fraternity wishes him a very healthy, wealthy and happy life in his future.
