I’ve seen so many “shaming” posts about people continuing to ride their horses during lockdown (I have been victim to one horrible post) it is bullying, there is no need for hate or pure nastiness at the moment. The law hasn’t stopped us from enjoying our horses.
Just remember you don’t know if that’s the only thing that’s keeping them sane at the moment.
When your spending hours in PPE it’s mentally and physically draining. Not knowing if your going to catch covid-19 or bring it back to your family.
Us mental health workers not only worry about covid-19 we also have a risk of being assualted, spat at, verbally abused. All can lead into restraining people, so “distancing” ourselves doesn’t work in our line of work so we have a high risk of catching this illness.
We are trying to relieve people’s anxiety and stresses while we are also stressed. That is so mentally hard.
Just remember we are all going through a hard time and we all have different coping mechanisms. If you’ve decided your not riding while lockdown is in, then good for you! If you decide to continue to ride then good for you too!
Be kind. People’s mental health is just as important as physical health.
I know my boys are the only thing keeping me sane and happy at the moment with all stresses in the world right now.
