Fantastic idea!

If you feed stray cats or dogs, you can use tortillas as plates and when the cats/dogs have eaten the food the possums and raccoons will clean up the mess, then you won’t be leaving plates or bowls laying around.

Ingenious. Karen Kohl Rowe took this photo of a quick and easy "Florida room" for a bluebird nest that doubles as protection against raccoons and opossums trying to conduct a raid. Here's Karen's description of the device:

A dear friend of mine, Lillian Franklin, is an expert on nesting bluebirds. She's in her late 80s and can tell you anything you need to know about bluebirds; a truly amazing intelligent lady.

She was having issues with raccoons and opossums reaching into the nest box after climbing over the baffle. There are various versions of the entrance extender but clever Lillian found these wire baskets at Dollar Tree and cut a hole in the bottom so the bluebirds could come and go. C***s and possums could not reach through the hole in the basket to grab the eggs or nestlings inside. She said both adults would sit in the wire “porch“ to keep an eye on the natural world. I call this the Lillian predator guard. It’s so easy to make an entrance and attach it to the box with a bungee cord.

If you’ve ever considered fostering, this poor baby needs a hero. Please share.

THIS DOG HAS BEEN CAPTURED!

**WE NEED YOUR HELP!**

This poor soul in running the streets with what appears to be a plastic container around his neck. We’ve been asked to help capture him, but we need a foster lined up before we can help.

This is a male dog that looks like an Aussie or cattle dog mix, so he’s medium in size.

If you’re open to fostering him, please send an email to [email protected].

If your rescue group has an opening for him Duck Team 6 will donate $350 to a 501c3 rescue.

Please note that we’re doing everything we can to get this dog off the streets as soon as possible. He is elusive and will need to be trapped. Please keep comments respectful as our small capture team is working around the clock to trap this dog and several others that are on the streets this July 4th holiday.

As Texas heats up, it's important to recognize the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke in your pets. ☀️

Make sure your pet has access to plenty of shade and water while outdoors. If possible, keep pets inside where it's cool during the day - especially the those most vulnerable (smashed face, long-haired, young, and old pets).

🚨Legislation Update: IT’S OFFICIAL!!! The bill was signed TODAY by Governor Abbott, and will go into effect officially on 1/18/2022!

It is because of the relentless support of our representatives, those that testified, donors, volunteers, staff, and YOU that have made this possible. We’ve been fighting for this bill for 6 YEARS… And today, dogs across Texas will begin to see change. Chains will finally be broken! We can’t thank you enough for your patience throughout this long journey.

We could not be more thrilled that law enforcement and communities will now have the tools and laws to act when precious lives are in danger! Dogs will now have adequate shelter while being restrained outdoors to keep both them and the people around them safe. THANK YOU!
